Stoked!

Bummer! I’m also going to the Brum gig on Thursday with one of the friends I’m going with tonight.

To be fair, the ring road is quite a pleasant drive when it isn’t rush hour.

I did it.

Can’t even describe how incredible it was. True masters of their craft, the whole experience was amazing. So excited to see it from a different perspective tomorrow in Brum.

Sick mate. I saw them in London maybe 10 years ago and they were not the best and the fans were terrible so glad to hear theyre back on it

Up until 8 months ago I had a right arse of a manager for 6 years who only believed that the reasonably alright looking woman in the team was worth of promotion or progression.

Got dumped into a team that felt like demotion, but the moneys alright so I just sat it out hoping for good things.

Just had a call with my boss about progression and she told me she’s really been fighting for me to get moved up the ladder and sent me the feedback she sent her boss. Properly humbled, she’s properly pushing for a promotion and game me amazing feedback.

Not used to it after working for an arse. Just wanted to share my good work day

There’s a teenager who comes in the shop, he treats it like a safe space. Speaking with some of the older skaters they told me he’s been the victim of bullying (they’re keeping an eye on him) and his mum isn’t well off. He’s never had a new board and is riding everyone else’s cast offs. So I messaged him to come by the shop today under the guise or me practicing my sales pitch. So at the end with all the bits he chose he for a Christmas complete I gave it to him free of charge.

He’s never had the opportunity to choose his own board and didn’t know about punching holes in the grip for the bolts because he’s only ever had second hand boards. I said all I ask for in return is for you to shred it.

h_palmer coming in strong with the early, true spirit of Christmas post. Very heartwarming to hear.

I know you won’t be able to afford to do that for everyone, but fuck me that kid will appreciate that like nothing else. Hope he sticks with it.

What a sick gesture.

Can I send you a few squids to put towards that board?

What about a pay it forward jar, people when they buy a complete can choose to put a couple of quid in, then you can cover a little bit of cost when paying it forward to someone like that guy?

Good work though, that’s you on Santas good boy list

That sounds great I’ll try and remember to do this. The wife said we could make it a thing each year around Christmas to hook up someone who’s deserving of it.

This kid he’s kind and polite, he comes in and hangs out. He tells me what he’s been learning etc and one time he came in after being at a jam someone put on. As he entered the shop some chav kids pulled on his bag. Then they followed him and started asking stupid questions and trying out boards etc. eventually they got bored and left. I asked if he knew them etc and he did. He was just stoked from the jam and wanted to tell me where he placed with what tricks and the prizes he’d won. So from now on they’re not allowed it and they tried to heckle me one evening when I was closing up. Speaking to the older skaters he has had a rough time of it with bullying etc. They caught someone giving him grief at the park so they stepped in and gave them a stern word.

They also told me some other lads had dropped on rock on his shoulder off the castle and the ended up breaking it. Couple this with him riding hand me down boards etc and his mum not having much financially I thought I’d just do something to stoke him out. At first I was going to choice a set up and gift it to him then my Mrs said why don’t you get him to pick it all because it’ll be more special. I hope it’s something he will remember. He was almost in tears and I heard him ride off down the street. He already messaged some of the older skaters and they messaged me thanking me etc and so grateful. I just said money isn’t everything and the feeling of gifting him a new set up is worth more than the cost of the parts used.
