Well done big dog, are you still at SKY?

Nah I left Sky a few years ago. Did a few years in B2B sales for a Business Mobile company and then just under 2 years ago switched industries and moved to a company local to me that does Steel Cladding. Although it was still sales it was a total reset as it’s more technical sales so had to basically learn the in and outs of the roofing and wall cladding world. I get to work with architects to design some rad project and advise on domestic work as well.

Few things changed towards the end of last year and the position was left vacant for a few months till the New Year. Boss popped in this morning and without an interview or anything asked if I’d like the role as I’ve basically been doing it anyway all with a nice pay rise too. Exactly what I need with the imminent world of parenthood happening! Proper stoked.

This is the one. It’s a big one but would be real fun. My wife’s currently booking us in to Mama’s and Papa’s for this Saturday so let’s see how much of a hit the bank card takes then first haha

Fuck that shop. Babies grow quick and get sick on everything.

Everyone who has had babies would be glad to get rid of the stuff they no longer need because babies grow so quick.

Don’t buy new baby stuff, waste of time. People sell perfectly good stuff for pennies just to clear room in the house.

+1. You do it for the first one then realise damn quick how easy and cheap it is to get everything in good condition second hand at a fraction of the price. That and people just start offering you their old stuff. Sometimes depends on your missus’ stance on things though. Thankfully (we have 4 kids) my missus was on the same page, but we shelled out a bit first time round.

Tell her a bunch of skaters in an online forum have convinced you to buy secondhand for the kid so you can splurge on Lego. I’m sure she’ll see sense.

+1 for buying secondhand

The attitude of ā€˜only the best for my kid’ will quickly evaporate when you have no money, 2 hours sleep and everything smells mildly of sour milk

Also all their clothes, and yours, will at some point have diarrea all over it and the only thing you will care about is whether there is a pack of wet wipes within arms reach

What they said up there! And suddenly it is 13 years later.

Just for the avoidance of any doubt - get a second hand pram.

Don’t even think about getting a new one unless your a crypto billionaire.

Good point about your own clothes. After I had kids I realised that any time I spent more than £20 on a tee or more than £30 on trousers would also be the time one of the kids would walk up to me and put fingers covered in butter or some other unremovable stain straight on. Spent the last ten years just wearing plain cheap stuff and only just now starting to get nice things again.

Got a banging silver cross for 1.8k, used it 5 times and it’s chillin in storage. 750 on a John Lewis crib/bed, never used. Sitting in storage too as second hand prices are pennies on the dime. I thought buying an RS6 was a shit idea on reflection…

We went nuts with our first and got the silver cross. 3 kids in, could not wait to get rid of that thing! Turns out the Ā£30 pram from John Lewis was the best. All that the silver cross was good for was flexing when you take your kid down the pub (after you’ve spent 10 minutes trying to get it through the door).

We went all new with the first but by the time we got to the third, she had a few new outfits for going out in but day to day stuff was all hand me downs and stuff from friends. It’s funny when you look back the at stuff you think you need and the stuff you actually need.
