Son just got back from a month long international kids camp in Brazil. Seems taller and more mature. Glad he really enjoyed himself and made new friends from around the world.
My wife did it when she was a kid. So did loads of her family. I let her take the reins on the whole thing. The whole purpose is to build connections, learn, experience and share other cultures. Nothing bad in all that. The kids do little weekends and meet ups with the other kids of their country throughout the year so that they get used to each other. Then there’s the month long international camp somewhere in the world.
Third week in France. Fucking savage not taking any time in the first few months of the year but well worth it while we’re here. Ive gone native now: cheese and bread for most meals, havent worn socks in three weeks, lots of shrugging, wine as often as possible, nob out on the beach, the works.
Just got back on Friday from a week long work trip to Reykjavik and Ghent. I saw a couple of cool small spots in the centre of Reykjavik, but didn’t get skating. Meanwhile, it turned out that Ghent has one of the largest skateparks in Europe in a massive sports campus. Rented a bike and headed out 2 of the evenings for a skate, I was absolutely buzzing like nothing I’d experienced in skating in the past couple of years.
