Stoked!

here is a few more, for anyone who lived in essex and skated ramp around 89 - 93, it is likely you had a session at the barn. It was in Rad mag a couple of times, it was run by two brothers Mash (skater) and Joey (BMX) in an old pig shed on their property and was basically a 6ft / 7ft vert ramp, it was super tight and had a really low ceiling and pretty hard to skate ( i could barely drop in on it). Towards the end of its run their was a metal mini with a crazy hip, which i think was made with the surface from latimer road vert ramp. The dude with the most 1992 essex steeze on the platform is munsonā€™s brother. the last picture is simon skipp

Is that Simon Skipp too?

he would shout at you the same too haha, ā€œget your bollocks out of your handbag and fucking land itā€ - his unique method of persuasion enabled me to land a backside flip down a gap that i wouldnt commit to. i pretty much had no choice but to do it properly

The flat upstairs has a boiler problem and itā€™s leaking down the wall and into my boiler, so now I also have a boiler problem (not stoked). So Iā€™ve been without hot water for 2 weeks while we try to figure out how to get upstairs sorted with the council - itā€™s a council tenant upstairs and they donā€™t seem to be there and the council keep refusing to force entry (not stoked).

But because weā€™ve been without hot water for 2 weeks we donā€™t have to pay the rent so I can save half a monthā€™s rent this month (stoked) and now Iā€™ve really got into cold showers. Theyā€™re fucking horrible but you feel awesome afterwards and it becomes a challenge. The first time I couldnā€™t even get my whole body under the shower without freaking out, the second time I managed to stay in for 30 seconds and now I can stay under for 2 mins with controlled breathing. Also I donā€™t spend the whole time Iā€™m the shower obsessing over stupid shit Iā€™ve said in the past or stressing about work/money etc. Totally pointless post but I recommend trying cold showers if you havenā€™t already.

When you get heating back, try a cold shower until youā€™re numb and then whack the heat up, the blood rushes into you itā€™s insane. Meant to be really good for recovery and achey body parts from skating

Many elite-level athletes use ice baths to recover after a rugby match or heptathlon training or whatever. Even an outdoors swim after a skate will properly sort you out. Look into Wim Hof if you havenā€™t already, heā€™s a master at swimming in meltwater and ice-filled sea - his identical twin canā€™t do it, so its definitely something you can learn and build tolerance for. Definitely easier to do after sport/workout, but props on getting into it @Snurp, itā€™s not easy!

Went skating for the first time in 2+ years today and bloody loved it.

Didnā€™t realise how long it had been till I was driving to the skatepark. Still keeping relatively in the loop online and having the odd blast to the shop on the cruiser kept it ticking over but man that was fun today.

Before I ā€œstoppedā€ I was starting to not enjoy skating at all, had lost loads of tricks and confidence Iā€™d had before due to not having time to skate as much and just was mental blocking everywhere. Today just relearning basic things was so rewarding and that mental block had gone. So stoked!

Good to hear!

That Insta clip was cool, this park you went to looked simple but super fun.

Real fun little place to get back into the swing of things.

Skated twice yesterday, the local park and a friendā€™s mini ramp, felt like I was 14 or something. The 45km cycling back and forth was a blast too.
