Supreme FW19

I’d categorise that as “Overthinking it just a little”.

People love to hate on Supreme cos it alienates them, what they thought was cool isn’t anymore. Mad how much people lose it over skateboarding. I’ve watched the new vid like 5 times already atleast. Got me so fired up to skate, moreso than owt recently. Screen recorded the hillbomb enders and probably watched it 30+ times. GETTIN SUM

I don’t hate Supreme. It’s just that I like to see more than the skater’s feet in skate footage. It’s not on my rewatch list as a result I’d rather watch something else.

Agreed hillbombs were the best bit 100%.

Never seen them in a video before…certainly can’t find them on Youtube in an instant or anything like that…good thing this vid came out so we can all see this new innovation in skateboarding…

Yeah you’re right. Probably not worth watching any new skate videos at all!

No no, you’ve got me all wrong, what I really want from videos is for all the new tricks that I’ve never seen before to be filmed to a poor standard and for the hillbombing to be filmed perfectly. That is the true hallmark of greatness.

EMB section was good too.

On the topic of footage though…I don’t think there were any new or groundbreaking tricks in the whole video. I could be wrong and have just missed them. That was what inspired my ‘we can work with basic footage, keep the good shit for your real sponsors’ Supreme editing conspiracy concept.

I disagree but you only watch videos for ‘new’ and ‘groundbreaking’ tricks?

Maybe, but for me as an older skater I don’t feel alienated. Alienated makes it sound like it’s an actual problem for people. I don’t think a video by a fashion brand can really have that effect on people that are not into the brand. I think you’re over egging that people are losing it. The main gripe seems to be that the filming style kind of ruins the shot but that can be argued in a debate about creativity in the art. Which i’m down for, just don’t feel that this style hits the mark half the time.
Some tricks were definitely ruined though. Those stairs where Tyshawn switch hard heeled was hard to watch. That trick in particular looked like it was styley as hell but we will never see it at it’s best. Oh well.
There won’t be any sleep lost over it.

Where did I say that?

The trick that stood out to me was Aidan Mackey’s half cab wheelie to fakie wheelie shove out at the Embarcadero.
15 or 20 years ago, Koston or Creager would have done that as a dork trick and it would have been in the credits of a full length. This clip is in a Supreme vid that was released last week and I’m sure loads of kids around the world tried half cab manuals down 2 or 3 stairs this past weekend.

It goes to show the evolution of skateboarding I suppose. What could have been done ironically once is now special and cool. Less rules, more fun! Yes.

Just the way you worded it made it sound like you were discrediting the video because it wasn’;t full of new and groundbreaking tricks

Good point that trick and tyshawn inward heel were the standouts for me too!

There are zero new and groundbreaking tricks in Chico’s 7 x 7 part yet I think it’s one of the best parts of the year and I know I’m not alone. Skateboarding is not about performance. It can be, but there’s much more to it than that.

If it was about performance then we’d all be nyjah fans. I think most of us aren’t.
Chico is so rad even though he’s been one of the more low key skaters in the Girl camp regarding progress. He just skates the way he’s always skated and it looks so good.

Not a Nyjah fan but I find it easier to accept that he is the best and move on. Being a Nyjah denier isn’t for me.

Regarding progress and innovation, I do feel that’s what a pro skateboarder should bring at their peak.

“Not a Nyjah fan but I find it easier to accept that he is the best and move on. Being a Nyjah denier isn’t for me”

That’s exactly it, we know he’s at the top but it does nothing for us and that’s ok. It’s not a big deal. Is there such thing as a Nyjah Denier? ha

I wouldn’t quite go that far. this was lovely:

That’s sick. Haven’t seen that line before.

Supreme video was rad, a bit of difference in filming style is fine by me

Yeah I’m pretty woke.
