I was there the year of the riot and someone stole Sean Goffs homemade sarnies he brought with him out of his tent :joy:

I bet Sean rioted all weekend after that.

I’ve never been to NASS but it’s just a festival that under 18s go to take drugs away from mum and dads house for a few days right?
The skateboarding bit is just an after thought, I always assumed?

I went once in what I think was about 2007?! Somehow blagged an athlete pass from ATF through Powley and it was the first time I had nandos as they were catering the “athletes lounge”. Walking around the event seeing the state of everyone I felt like Louis Theroux and hadn’t been back since. The Nando’s and meeting loads of people from the UK scene part was nice though - cheers Powley.

NASS is a bit of a mixed bag for me. One year I had to drive both Cates and Questions from North Hertfordshire to Shepton Mallet on a Friday afternoon and it took hours and Ive never envied deaf people more.

But on the flip side I got to watch Stu shit on the course and a snowboarder cleaned it up with a bit of cardboard and marigolds so every cloud and all that.

Like most old vert skaters, Sean can only do things for a maximum of 45 seconds at a time.

What’s next… a Tim Card reference?

Still don’t get it. I’m 34 and still miss the refs

NASS has alway been a bit of an actions sports Reading festival. Always plenty of booze, drugs , excessive bonfires with can of beans or deodorants thrown in to them . Think I was there most years from 98 - 2006 through work and a great industry piss up for most of us with loads of gear. Tho I had been told since then the music line up changed to Dj’s so all the chavs started turning up and was more like an under 18’s creamfeilds .

One of the most memorable years was 2002 when I had a major hangover(probably various party chemicals too) morning tent piss in a 1/4 full tequila bottle as I was desperate.
Later that morning I placed the bottle near the main walk way from our camp pitch , looking like a full bottle of tequila to see if anyone would actually fall for it looking like the real deal
.It took 10 mins before a group of 14/15 year olds spotted it , they talked amongst themselves and grabbed it , opened the lid sniffed it and put the lid back on with smiling faces , looked around to see if anyone was looking (didn’t spot us a gasp ) and then walked up the path .
We all jumped up and looked up the path where the kids proceeded to open the bottle again , one kid took a huge swig and spat it out shouting- I told you it was piss! He was livid . His mates laughed at him hard but he had the last laugh and started to throw the contents of the bottle all over them chasing them down the path covering them in my piss .
We were fucking howling , couldn’t quite believe they fell for it and to actually go that far was gold .
A lesson learned for that lot.

That story is probably getting told from one of their perspectives at a 40th in a few years

A guy got wrapped in clingfilm for hours outside my tent the last time i went (the riot year I think). Loads of people pushing bacon etc down under the cling film in the baking sun. Horrible.

Siilar to the tequila story, we made a spliff made out of our pubes and crusty arse hair. Left it out on a chair by the path as bait. Caught a fucked up chav almost immediately who picked it up and happily puffed on it.

I think that was also the year i got in, walked up to a mini ramp 10 mins after getting in and a fucked up chav and his missus came up to me, yanked my wrist band off me and told me if I told anyone they would stab me. That was nice.

The riots were not fun.

Mike V famously acted like an entitled wanker at a Radlands contest because he had to wait in line with everyone else for a sandwich. In a fit of rage, he turned the table of food over like Jesus in the temple. He then didn’t return to the UK for a couple of years.

Rye and I used to put blipverts of sandwiches into his NASS clips years later as a result

Haha! Amazing.

Any of these clips still around?
