I suppose it will depend on how highly benihanas are rated in the olympic scoring system?
You can see the current Olympic rankings here:
Decunha is currently 58th, top 16 from these rankings come 1 June next year will qualify.
So if Joslin is 15th I’d say his chances are rather slim, not saying he should give up but more that his name shouldn’t really even come up in this discussion if it’s that unlikely.
There will also be a final, big qualification event sometime next year where the top 3 will automatically qualify for the Olympics. That might already be Decunha’s best hope.
The women’s park could be interesting - Sky Brown is currently ranked 9th. Also 5 of the top 16 are Japanese - only 3 can go to the Olympics.
Good luck to him then, no use being overly negative but best move on from him when discussing this stuff.
Much more like it!
Maybe Dechuna’s Dad will get to speak to someone on the Olympic committee?
He said something along the lines of 'yeah, I’ve been doing this since I was six, and skateboarding has come a long way from causing chaos on the streets, it’s much more respectable now"
FUCKKKKK.
YOOOOUU.
I suppose he’s right though - a long way - the wrong way.
see i’m glad it’s not just me. the revolution show made me dislike him somehow and i just put it down to me being a prick
Top 20 (well ok 19 as 1 if def going to JPN)
Can’t be more than 3 per nation. There are 7 USA in that current top 20 so scrap 4 of them. Likewise few brazilians leave… If you make a ‘clean list’ Decunha sits at 37… Those scores haven’t taken into account National Champs points which are his highest so far of 960 (but others will equally have done well at their national champs and have a similar high score).
It won’t become obvious who those in places 15+ are until more events have taken place next season.
The top three from the World Champs in May 2020 will automatically qualify but I’d eat my hat if these three weren’t already in that top 20 i.e Nyjah, Kelvin, Yuto etc
Glad I missed that part.
Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards > Alex Decunah
They guy in red is rather extravagant.
Not the presenter.
Yeah, that does seem very likely. Is the street World Champs event going to be held in London? I couldn’t quite work it out from World Skate’s website.
Yes. SLS London World Champs, May 2020
Anyone other than Sky Brown even close to qualifying in the Womens?
I assume Sky Brown will be our own qualifier.
And she’s American.
LoL.
Jokes aside hopefully more girls/women start skating and progressing because of the exposure.
Please. She’s half Japanese , half British. Get your facts right and then add your tuppence even if it’s negative for no good reason.
It was a joke and she has a thick american accent.
