Yeah I would prefer Tiago to win it but he didn’t get fucked over.
Kyle Walker and David Gonzales were 2 terrible choices in my opinion.
Every other year I can get behind I guess.
Tiago looks better in footage than photos. He skates fast.
I rate Ellijah Berle over Walker.

Feel like there’s been loads of videos out lately, I wonder when Thrasher and co are going to start running out of shit to put out, must be running low by now surely? Unless they had a huge backlog I guess.

They work months ahead on a lot of projects…with brands, dates can be locked in 6-9 months before.
I don’t reckon there will be a drop off until we are 5-6 months into this.
Suciu should have had Skater of the Year. I’d have been happy with Tiago though.
There’s a few people who don’t exactly fit the Thrasher mould (or the image we think of now) that have still taken SOTY over the years: Appleyard, Deawon, MJ… Ishod gnarly but he’s not exactly Thrasher’s brand of gnarly. Tyshawn, again, absolutely mind blowing skater but he doesn’t exude Thrasher out of every pore.
Milton’s ballistic and fits in with the mag’s vibe completely. But I feel there’s been a degree of acclaim and notoriety achieved by the majority of people who’ve won SOTY, even in the more recent years, by the time they’ve taken it. Tyshawn certainly had that and so did Wes, Ishod and GT.
Whatever, anyway. Jack O’Grady is going to win SOTY one year and that’s going to be a fucking good year to watch.

Personally, I think Ishod is 100% Thrashers type of gnarly.
Skates all terrain. Rides for NorCal brands. Seems to be constantly on the road and churning out photos and video.

Seeing Ishod get into skating transition over the last few years has been so sick. It’s like when you get more street footage of GT. Imagine a shared part…

Forget the name of the station but last time I was in London I stayed at a mate’s house near where he did that whoop-de-whoop ollie in (1:02 in here). It’s so unfathomably fucked that even after a couple days of hopping on the overground there and walking past it, I didn’t even clock it was that same spot until a mate pointed it out. It shouldn’t be possible.
