The Continually Updated Footage Thread

Same here. Like he was a drunk kid on Flip who grew up on Alien and got interesting.

Probably not far off. Could be my imagination as well but I swear he did more flip tricks for his workshop parts, less straight up rail chomping

Sweeping generalisation from me. He definitely grew up on Flip really. From memory, most of Arto’s Mindfield footage was from when he was still on Flip, and Alien bought the footage. He’s definitely riding Flip boards for a lot of it, so maybe that was just his direction.

Love Arto and love Alien but as rad as his mindfield section was I couldn’t buy into him on alien. As much as I loved Mindfield (top 10 for sure), the cinematographer section hyped me up so much more. Maybe it’s to do with it being a short punchy clip though…

Pre-Alien Arto is unfuckwithable.
Mindfield Arto is mostly Flip footage bought from them.
Post-Alien, Arto is a legend so can do what he likes.

…but as above - even Berra and MT couldn’t dampen Mindfield.
As gnarly of a video as it is, I think it is even gnarlier that it is a cohesive piece when clearly they mostly don’t skate together as a team. When I think about that, that elevates Greg Hunt to an even higher tier than I’d already placed him.

Not sure why people are saying ‘even Berra and MT’ when shouldn’t it be ‘even Berra and Drydeck’

MT was always a good skater.

Berra and Dyrdeck did bring it down a bit…but it’s still one of the best videos of all time regardless. No video is perfect.

I was actually hyped to see Dyrdek’s section in Mindfield. Considering he’d been there for 20 years at that point and, financially, he didn’t need to do anything, it was rad to see him putting on some lines. The “fuck the streets” quote was a classic too.

And Berra. Pulling out the same old stuff, but skating to Magnolia Electric Co, so hard for me to hate on it.

I actually really like Berra’s skating but when that came out him and Drydek didn’t cut it like they used to. But their footage was still good and yeah Dyrdek had some nice lines.

Did bring the overall quality down a tad but as I said probably one of best videos ever.

Just because Dyrdek has AWS history.

MT is just so bland…

Dyrdek>MT

I got halfway through it but the shakey camera style annoyed me too much. Once I watched Jamal Williams footage I was over it. Shame. I like the style of Hopps.

Hear what you’re saying but he rightly or wrongly he gets a pass for his history with the brand.

Can’t stand footage like that. Camera movement is all well and good, but not in the hands of an hyperactive epileptic.

All the Alien older alien additions felt like Dyrdek doing favours for people getting kicked off other teams. Should have never have been added.
I actually like the way Berra skated, has solid backside tricks but Mikey T’ only decent footage was in Skate More and that was mainly due to the music/feel of the edit.
Dyrdek section was pretty good, way better than expected but still, he became so un alien that he shouldn’t have been allowed in. Arto didn’t suit but section was rad.
Mindfield could have been better edited down a few ^^^ peeps and it would have been more cohesive, anyone else editing and it wouldn’t have worked but Hunt worked magic to help them feel included.

That vid was bland as fuck. Kids doing straight switch heels down big boring looking stairs? nah not for me.

It was good at the time.

When In Bloom got slipped into the DVD player, no-one was chapter searching the Mike Taylor section.

Don’t get me wrong i’m not a fan, just saying he’s had some reasonable parts.
