The Continually Updated Footage Thread

ah man this is fucking buzzing

Warning: absolutely atrocious music choice by the Red Bull energy corporation in the second one.

thought the end titles were the opening titles, that was great though. he’s totally on that level above, clipping stairs out of landings and shit, that’s hard

Pedro’s amazing but impossible not to compare to Milton’s last part…

Hardly an insult.

Besides the lipslide and big double kink 5050 I didn’t think it was even 50% as good as Milton’s part.

In his previous parts I’ve been afraid he might get seriously hurt as it looked like he didn’t really have the skills to pull it off, but he looks a bit more sure-footed in this one. Gnarly fucker.

Maybe. But he used a classic song which makes this section better in my opinion.

I’m on the fence with this guy. Obviously very good but the whole ‘fit’ is not my thing AT ALL.

Maybe I just don’t get it or maybe it really is stinking.

Whatever, good skating though.

Can’t we just have one day without yet another Thrasher part

It’s not a ‘Thrasher Part’. Thrasher is just the media outlet who publish the part.

If I went to the effort to film a part I’d probably want it there. If it’s only going to be watched once and then disappear forever I’d at least want it seen by the most people.

Yeah I agree but that’s my point. All this effort people go to in order to film a part, literally putting their life on the line in some cases, just for it to be on the top page of Thrasher for 24 hours before the next thing gets posted.

It’s treating skateboarding as content, nothing seems special anymore it’s all just clicks, like and subscribe etc.

There’s so much that even the good stuff that would stand the test of time gets forgotten about. When was Appleyards part? Two weeks ago? Already forgotten. Or Mason’s rough cut? Who cares, I just want the next rough cut.

It’s not skatings fault or thrashers, it’s ours. We don’t give anything the time of day anymore, we just keep clicking on the next thing. Even if we are watching something and are half enjoying it, we’re still hovering over skip, we have so much choice and no patience. Same with music, it’s a wonder anyone makes an album nowadays because unless you’re someone with a track record big enough to have fans that will buy regardless, your album is not going to be listened to more than once or twice.
A fucking shame for any art.
Ultimately, it’s the internet’s fault and the progress we’re force fed.

Not Thrasher…

Yeah agreed !

I don’t care how often stuff comes out but I really dislike Rough Cuts. Nothing boils skating down to ‘content’ like ripping out the music and vibe of a video then running it in the same order with a few slams in between makes.

Granted, Mason’s was half an hour long and pretty soon into it there was some footage which didn’t make the part, so that’s cool, but most of the time they feel soulless and gratuitous. It bums me out quite a bit. The Stay Gold B-Sides were interesting, because doing that was new then, but now digital shelf lives are so fleeting it’s like brushing your hard work aside even quicker.

9 times out of 10 I prefer the rough cut to the actual part. I enjoy the struggle or something.
