Same, when it’s worked into a video. But unless the raw footage and attempts are pretty exceptional/exciting I don’t get anything out of a bunch of close calls for a trick I’ve already seen happen.
It depends, Rough cuts can be amazing if they actually show the work put in. Most nowadays are just makes with the odd sprinkle of extra tries, which is pointless.
One that always stands out is one of the very first, Chris Joslin just as we was blowing up, he put a random rough cut thing out where he was just going for random gaps and it showed every go, most in real time. It really showed how heavy someone can go when they are so focussed. You felt every drop with your own heels.
Girl are far from dead, their skaters are fucking amazing and they had some spicy trousers in there to appease the fashion twats.
There was a couple of zoom moments from one or two of their filmers but wasn’t done badly I guess but on the whole, filming was good. I love the way Griffin starts his lines, he just sweeps into shot with purpose. All of them were great, I even really like Manchilds skating. I just ignore the rest of his shit. Great video.
I love rough cuts, they make you feel like you’re there.
Remember those Behind The French Fred Scenes clips? So ill.
The fashion twats never sleep… They live in pyjamas these days though.
Gotta agree, I find it hard to like lines where everything’s done frantically, like that one at 0.50, where he’s rushing to get tricks in - landing a trick, then instant wallride or wallie. Completely unnecessary.
Then there’s the blatant attempt at dressing like early 90s goofy boy with a footballer moustache, And I totally hate triple black skate shoes, especially ones with rubber toe caps or slip-ons as paired with baggy highwaters, they end up looking like clown shoes.
Like you said, good tricks, but I’ve always got to relate to the skater some some sartorial level, haha.

Let’s not let this get lost…
Love the new gen of Girl riders!
Much like Heitor, when the skating is that good you’ve gotta forgive any youthfully exuberant 'stache or britches.
That opening line was truly magnificent.
Lol I know I just ranted about too much content… but that new Girl was great. +1 for using that Yo La Tengo track as well.
Though -1 for using Morrissey
Rough cuts are useful as they give the footage the opportunity of a second viewing. So much content gets missed these days and skaters/filmers put so much effort into these things that I think it’s good to put out the raw clips after the part. Just don’t put them out too soon after a part - I feel rough cuts have the most impact when they remind people how sick the original footage was. Need to have let the dust settled.
As for Deedz, he’s one of my favourites right now. Creative but with real skill. I’d never rock any of his gear, but his clothing kind of fits with his approach to skating so I’m not going to complain.
Nothing like Heitor.
Girl Art Department Guy #1: “Alright, Neils in turning pro. What’s his personality, what’s he got going for him?”
Girl Art Department Guy #2: “Well he skates a bit like Suciu, sometimes wears jackets like Suciu, he’s on adidas. I guess, uh, he’s like our version of Suciu? Maybe…”
Girl Art Department Guy #1: Bang on. Whack a really famous book cover on his board. That’ll do.
Jokes aside I’m looking forward to watching this.
Those are always terrible.
Suciu isn’t the only skater to ever read a book though. Isn’t it cos Neils looks a bit like the original illustration?
Obviously they don’t skate similarly but both are insanely talented and fans of horrific clothes/mustache combos.
My point is I’m not gonna let my own views of their sartorial choices override their undeniable radness.
Haha, no of course not. Neils just has a few similarities so that amused me.
I actually like the board and that’s one of my mum’s favourite books. Maybe it’s time for her first wall hanger.
Trust Girl to drop a video on the one day all skaters wanted to do was argue over moustaches, haha.
I dunno Wally I think Heitor looks good.
Really?
On a board yes, he’s fucking unreal.
What do I know though? I’m a Gen X that wasn’t cool in my own day, let alone in these confusing Gen Z times.
Lol, reminds me of this. The absolute state of T-Funks clothing
