Also the ender was incredible, you could tell that it was sweltering.
@Londonskater did Marcus film any clips? Would have been sick to see him in the mix, I saw he was out with you at one point. I have a real soft spot for his tre flips.
It wouldn’t be the forum if someone didn’t chat a little bit of shit, so here goes. The filming on Spanky’s clip at 3:07 bumped me out. Did someone sneeze?
Marcus had the opportunity to film and was with us on the trip.
For the timestamp - I probably know the clip you mean without looking.
Truth is, I 100% had to strobeck because the roll up after the boardslide transfer was incredibly slow. And it looked it. It was a decision we made after filming a couple of them ‘normally’ that this was the only way we could make it look its best.
That said, the movement right before the grab/wallride is really fucking jerky. That was my fuckup. But we decided it was fine and didn’t matter really, so didn’t try again.
It’s funny - and I think Jake Harris talked about this in respect of Trust Fall - but the way people skate now (Sort of non traditional, I guess) means that certain things (Especially the awkward shit where you have no choice but to slow roll like this) kinda look shit and stagnant unless you really get in there (AKA strobeck).
So, that form of filming exists. For a reason.
I guess in the same was the French Fred style came about when clean tech skating became a real thing.
I dunno…interesting point. Because I couldn’t find another way to shoot that which worked.
Thanks for the background info! I wasn’t criticising the style at all, it was just the jolt that bumped me out.
Also I’m talking from first hand experience here. I’ve sneezed whilst filming a fisheye clip and really fucked it up, so had to beg whoever I was with to film it again! Ha!
Having a runny nose whilst filming is annoying to say the least.
I remember the Jake Harris interview, that was a good one.
Nah, different song. Wanted to use this for years and years.
Yep. Quite a few have tried it. It’s awful. To get it in a line is pretty buck.
I don’t think there are any ABDs in there, right? But then, also…kinda don’t care. I just want to see these people skate.
Oh, the rail is 100% NBD for anything.
Manz ollied it, yeah. And then dustin tried a boardslide on a fishtail board. Footage is in an old Volcom video I think. There was a sequence ran of a slam, too.
The rail is slightly oval shaped on top, so lock is weird. And then at the bottom where you get the final little kink, its pretty mashed up, so hard to not get caught up on there.
Two southbank locals ash and gerv including in that, which is nice to see.
Someone on slap said it’s bound to be a video filmed by a million people on a million formats, which I’m sure it will be but I’m happy to live with that to see an American company including all their international team (even if dgk aren’t a major player, still nice see)
Loose trucks Max has sensibled his hair and Gilbert has sensibled his trousers. Other than that, the videos contain the sort of quality skateboarding one would expect.
