Very diplomatic there Greg
Ah. When you put it like that…
There were some elements which I wasn’t completely convinced on but I don’t think it’s particularly helpful to dwell on that so I’ll say it is nice to see the isle text sculpture imagery / Jensen’s art is strong enough to help bolster a non Harris edit and feel like an isle production without looking like they’ve asked someone to make a Harris-lite edit.
Also really encouraging to read Paul S. talking about acknowledging some short comings as a company owner and ready to start listening and engaging with the team more (I’m under the impression the general frustration with the riders was that isle just didn’t really do anything).
Nice to have such a candid insight into asking the riders to come back and addressing their hesitations.
Plantar is a BITCH. I had it for 20 months a bit back. I run a lot and due to limited left ankle movement from skating injuries over the years the fascia had shortened causing the plants… You basically need to stretch it out and get blood flow to the area. Do calf stretches every day on a step. Move your foot in big circles whilst you are sat chilling… Get a tennis ball in the kitchen to massage the underside of your foot whilst the kettle is boiling… It’s not something you have to live with as long as you keep on top of the above.
Had forgotten about this one. So good. Carroll being the GOAT indeed.
I think we’re hijacking this thread. Oh well, those Crail tour vids were always brilliant. I love the intro in this one (especially CK dorking around in rural Washington):
But also so monotonous, and dare I say it… shit. Filming on Mike’s line was pretty bad.
Pretty sure @ciaran has said it before, but try getting a good thumbnail out of any of that long lens filming (bar a few clips).
James Coyle is a wonderful bloke, too. His work is gorgeous.
I liked the Isle edit. The concept of the skaters panning across the screen on their backs was cool. The song was well suited and while it wasn’t necessarily all bangers in terms of skating that suited the overall edit too. I don’t have enough expertise to criticise the filming. Mike Arnold’s switch Lotti spin and the switch heel at Lloyds were sick. Think it was a lotti spin, might be wrong.
Yeah if you had to pick at it that clip wasn’t filmed great but in the wider context of the full video it didn’t really bother me. Went by so quickly. My point was more that as a whole it felt like a cohesive thing skate footage wise whereas if you’d tried to do that years back with all the different contributing filmers it would’ve looked like a mess of different formats/ lenses/ camera settings.
I much prefer a few iffy filmed bits if it all looks largely consistent, found mixing of cameras/ formats the most jarring thing about older clips/ vids
Was just going to post that. He’s so good.
im enjoying them. Mike Sinclair’s utter lack of enthusiasm is sort of amusing
Every time Chris Roberts is on camera, he’s looking away or looking glazed over.
I think it’s cool seeing 2 skaters with totally different styles and bags of tricks battle it out.
Soundest dude going as well. Super friendly whenever I spoke with him.
Mike Sinclair’s refusal to let tricks pass that do not slide is a delight
