The Continually Updated Footage Thread

Is it a make?

If it was me doing it, I’d count it

Why’s it been edited like a channel 5 day time documentary haha. Having said that, my ankles hurt just watching those attempts.

I wonder if he’ll try bs bigspin or bs heelflip, he seems to have those tricks on lock

I don’t think you can skate the stairs anymore. They installed rumble strips and a gate.

I guess a lot of this is a post-DC footage dump, but putting out two parts a month apart in your 30s is still pretty impressive.

Just watched that Austyn Gillette thing - what a bell.
Self-fellation levels off the charts.
No thanks

Did it actually ruin the skating for you though? I found it a bit cringe but I remember similar sort of cringe stuff (shots of him smoking etc) in Dylan parts and just went along with it really.

Not really, the switch 360 flip and the ender were still amazing but the dreadfully narcissistic editing (after bangs/hair/etc) and the repetition of certain tricks made it less impressive than i expected it to be. i mean, so what, i’m never buying any austyn globes but it did leave me wondering who it was aimed at.
will never watch again

I’d guess the target audience was Austyn Gillette.

Nothing mindblowing but a nice little watch.

Re. Gillette, I don’t think his part was any less self indulgent than literally any other solo part and he’s got the tricks and style to back it up.

Isn’t the barrage of endless zoom in on face before trick, pan to footage of cool mates after that we get in numerous videos equally self indulgent? Yes, editing your own part is a bit ‘write the theme tune, sing the theme tune’ but can’t blame him if he wants to present his footage in a certain way (tbh, I were him I’d have asked the filmer to refilm the switch tre but that’s another issue).

At the core of it, the problem with Austyn’s self indulgence is that he just isn’t fit enough to get away with it.

Austyn is probably a nice guy and he rips and I suppose editing your own footage and putting in loads of hair flicks and Euro lifestyle clips is very on brand for someone who rides for Globe.

Yeah that famously Australian company…

Have a look at Globe’s marketing and it should make sense.

" Globe + Wasted Talent Dover II

Over a few evening drinks with our friends at Globe in London or Paris, but it could have been Barcelona. We discussed how we yearned for a shoe that could be worn effortlessly from the early morning surf checks all the way through to when the sun dips and the evening lights begin to twinkle as we dance to the beat of the metropolitan drum. Enter the conception of a colab - a marriage led by minimalism. And were we overwhelmed by your support. So we put some heads together, achieved perfect corporate synergy and decided to go back in with the smallest of changes."

I have no idea but that would explain it!

Thought you’d typed that up for a joke, or had Chat GPT do it. Imagine my surprise when I Googled it.

Fucking hell. So much hyperbole for the most boring, basic of shoes, and no doubt the materials are total shit too.

Same thing for 80% less.

Yeah it’s real and it’s why I thought Austyn’s part was on brand for Globe

I didn’t realise that his personal brand was now also Globe’s brand.

The Austyn-Globe partnership is so horribly misjudged, part of me really hopes Globe haven’t staked any future success or revival of the brand on it. Feels very 2010 and doesn’t speak to what young skaters are currently in to at all.
