Definitely between Tom and Yuto.
Cyrus third most likely according to the good people of Slap, but that’s got to be people voting for him even when they know it’s Tom or Yuto.

Somebody do a thread.
I wonder how whoever voted Taylor Kirby goes about their life without some kind of carer situation.
So much good stuff in that Shanahan part!
Imagine telling somebody that they’d see a grab on a shaped board at FDR in a DGK section ten years ago… Love how he mixes it all. The nollie shove nosegrind revert in a line was so fluid.
Fred Gall.
I love that aspect of his skating as well, it’s not like he’s chucking in the occasional trick on different terrain just to mix it up either.
He should’ve grabbed behind the knee though
Totally. Also, a lot of people can do airs and tech, he’s just atypical for a big shoes baggy jeans guy. His tech skating isn’t really progressive/moving the needle it’s Wenning tech really, and his tran skating isn’t anything special.
Sounds overly critical, I really enjoyed that section and I like his skating but he’s not anywhere near SOTY level imho.
Wish Joey O’Brien would come out with another banging part. That old thrasher part was absolutely fucking mental good.
Disagree. He’s progressing tech in a really classy way. East coast seems more classy with their tech, more pops to grinds, awkward turns and less is more. West coast is all flip into slide and flip out. That stuff all blurs into one.
I’d rather see someone do shove nosegrind 180 out (any which way) than the most tech flip/spin into a nose/tail slide and even crazier flip/spin out.
Shanahan is a paradox. Cheesy phat 90s throwback with classy beautiful skating.
Yeah I get that, me too, I like his skating…but it’s not really progressive is it? Yuto is progressive, so is Antonio Durao, or Tyshawn. I don’t see Shanahan or TJ Rogers in the same light really even though both are favourites to watch.
I think you’re being distracted by the shoes on that (easily done in his case perhaps) as his tech is not a lot like Wenning’s from what I’ve seen anyway. I’ve seen him do some nosegrind pop out’s but other than I can’t really see the similarity.
Fair enough I mean I have a lot of respect for anyone who skates like him and takes the time to clean up their lines and do everything bolts. He’s an amazing skater but I just feel like he’s not bringing anything new. Personal view only and I am not by any means qualified to judge, I just feel like he’s following a well worn path.
I really disliked shanahan when he came out because I just saw it as kalis/Philly cosplay from a skatepark kid that moved to the big city.
I’ve since taken my deep breaths and realised it isn’t that important, but despite being good at skating he still hasn’t managed to really grab me.
Wouldn’t spit in his pint. But wouldn’t feel guilty leaving him off the round either
Oh is this is still a SOTY thing? Ok, I’m out!
It’s an opinion, no better or worse than mine. Personally I can’t remember too many people doing those kinds of lines/tricks so cleanly and that’s what is ‘new’ or at least refreshing to see. My only real complaint with him in the past were some horrendous ‘fits’ but he seems to have toned that down a bit now.
Ok I forgive you for being wrong.
Admittedly, shanahan really does impress me with some pretty interesting tech stuff done well, when I bother to watch the sections- but if I see his name at the top of a YouTube link, my default reaction is
‘Ok, baggy DC hoody and a nollie crook or something at muni-already seen it’
