You’re out of like jail. Go go go.
Just to de-rail the thread further; for an example of really good American tech skating done outside of bland Californian school playgrounds, Nyle Lovett (theories brand and affiliated crews) has some really precise tech done on rust belt crust.
He might be abit dainty for some but his ability to skate so precisely on gravel surfaced run ups is a real push in the right direction of the east coast/ habitat tech skating of Steve durant and associated New Jersey legends
He’s had about 3 more sections in the last 2 years too
I don’t think Shanahan really is a pure tech skater, despite his get up. He frequently does really burly drops and will also chuck in street grabs from time to time. He also doesn’t play by the ledge skater rules, eg. not balancing his 5.0s or going head on for a noseblunt.
Yeah he’s definitely an all rounder, but just abit… eh
Edit: he can’t live up to his outfits
Edit edit: which are pretty shit anyway. Stop watching old wu-tang music videos. You’re from the suburbs
He’s a bit too snowboardery.
Alright no more pleasantries, let’s batter the bastard
You guys are really sticking to your guns on this, fair play.
Like jail? Can you do the stats again @Les_Zeppelin
I’m a big shanahanafan. He’s a tasteful ATV and his fits are way less offensive than people make them out to be.
I’m being facetious of course. He’s really good.
He does have a really interesting relationship with clothes though.
He was the poster child for DC’s big late 90s/early 00s revival marketing push in large part to his fits and approach to skating/spots mimicking that era.
I think his big hucks always come as a bit of a surprise because you expect him to be ledge only because of the fits.
Without the outfits I think he wouldn’t seem as interesting or individual.
Tldr bit gimmicky
Hold your osses - new Pedro part dropping tomorrow!
That’s pretty much how I feel.
I feel similarly about TJ Rogers. But I think TJ is objectively better than Shanahan? I’ll have to check my notes.
Genuine semi.
Yeah I can see the comparison. I think TJ is abit more of a conventional Californian super pro though.
Commited to a look but more so commited to being mental at skating
Shanahan’s fits > TJ’s fits
This discussion feels really important.
It’s because all our opinions are so important
Yeah TJ is less so harping back and more just containing the ongoing legacy of canadian skaters wearing ridiculously baggy clothes.
Realised I’ve just been dogging shania hwain without even watching the section.
Just watched it and it was
Mid.
