Funnily enough he’s one of the most interesting guys at Street League, almost less robotic and definitely less predictable than a lot of other guys (like Dashawn, Hoban or Milou). He does weird things out of nowhere with a really good style.
Agree on the street league thing. It’s crazy you start rooting for guys that you hated on before, like Felipe Gustavo. He’s another that has weirdly matured in style.
They used a Beach House track for this first Shane Goes section so the choice does make sense.
Agree it’s not the most ear grabbing song on first listen, but I think Beach House are way less egregious a choice than Band of Horses. It’s more understated a song at least.
Ah man Felipe Gustavo is sick but I’m still not a big fan, especially after hearing that he can be quite the prima-donna.
And I understand winning a Street League event must feel like quite an achievement for anyone but I hated how he cried wrapped in that Brazilian flag when he won last year, not sure why but I thought it was really corny.
The Shane part was mental but it’s like watching an AI generated deep fake. It’s so technical and smooth I can’t really connect to it. I’d rather watch Shanahan, Kalis, Chico, Tiago clips with basic tricks done big/stylish.
I feel like such an arsehole for saying it but Shane’s skateboarding hasn’t developed at all in the last 10 years and it’s like skateboarding me moved on without him, something that I noticed watching the olympics.
He is obviously incredible, but he set the bar so so high when he first emerged that it’s almost impossible to reach those standards again and there was nothing in that part that you couldn’t have fooled me into thinking was in Shane goes, not another trans world video etc.
