The first mistake is watching a Santa Cruz video.
This is so sick thread worthy
Never gets old
Just went to watch the Poets clip on Thrasher to see it’s unavailable in the UK cause of music rights. Need to see some Rick footage!
True!
It’s a company, like Creature, that I always thought odd that they had a strangely loyal crew of riders for whatever reason - cash, I’m assuming. Everything they put out is bland, indistinctive and dull, either constantly reworking their late 80s back catalogue, or doing a really bad job of current design/graphic trends.
Creature is similar, despite sticking to that crap radioactive green and black colourscheme on 50s style horror graphics since the late 90s. I always found it funny seeing a bunch of dudes either sponsored or just fully into Creature rolling though a local skatepark all looking like variations on a theme, like it was a group office workers on a corporate “clean-up the skatepark” local awareness initiative.
Isn’t Creature one of the bestselling board brands?!? Sure I read that somewhere
i heard Heroin is the best selling board brand currently.
Yeah I’ve heard this, due to the egg, apparently
And having a YouTuber with a pro board maybe
saw some kid with one in my corner shop, so close to asking for a go, but nah.
Whose that?
Have a soft spot for fos and LFA era heroin but I am really not into the egg.
Just looks pointless and gimmicky
Eggs are fun. But anything more than 9.25 is ridiculous.
One of those Dern brothers
It might be pointless and gimmicky in some respects, but in respect of making skateboards that sell it’s the opposite.
Surfing and snowboarding have both gone down a similar route, with more fun less performance orientated shapes becoming the biggest sellers.
I’m sure it’s probably a sign of something bad and I totally get what you’re saying…but if Heroin still just made 8.125" decks they probably wouldn’t be around any more.
My mate was skating an 8.5 egg this weekend, looks fun.
Yeah they’re really fun. The other aspect is that the people who buy egg decks are pretty much the only good customers left for skate shops! They are always after something new, they are excited about new wider trucks, smaller wheels, weird rails or whatever…and they actually come into the shop to buy stuff!
Almost every other customer will buy from the cheapest possible source. Can’t blame them, if you’re breaking stuff not building a sort of rideable collection of artefacts then I get why you’d want to get whatever’s cheapest.
