“Tom Asta paid tribute to it in one of his recent clips.”

Yeah we’re gonna need to see this link, merci d’avance!

Thought the behind the board push was a Rick Howard thing originally?

They talk about it in the video, I can’t really remember when exactly, but he throws his board down à la Reynolds and does the MJ jazz push in the same line at 21:50 (timestamped for you here):

Super, merci! Absolutely love Tom Asta, great style and bag of tricks.

I’m going to confidently state that Gonz and/or Blender and/or Gesmer did it first, even though I have absolutely no evidence to back it up

That’s the kind of facts I can get behind

Tout le plaisir est pour moi.

Yeah he’s pretty incredible and I find his channel quite good. Love his dedication and humility.

Oh yeah that could easily be true. Been around for a while. But to bring it back to MJ, his would definitely would have been the defining one for my early 00s THPS generation of skaters, and part of what makes the line @franc mentioned so memorable.

Oh definitely, it’s a standout. I can shut my eyes and picture it now even though I haven’t watched it for years.

I’m sure it’s not a choice to do it, just a slightly off balance get back on track thing. I have done it many times and only right after the fact thought “damn, i’m MJ, WOO!” then bust a cab flip.

I’m like MJ if he had debilitating issues stopping him being able to pop above a curb.

Just reread that chromeball interview, it sort of feels like the start of an post-prett sweet alternative timeline that never happened.

Also, completely forgot there was an unreleased full part:

I’ve always heard that somewhere in-between the transition between enjoi and Chocolate that there is an entire unreleased part of yours shelved somewhere? Possibly for Bag of Suckand skating to the Chemical Brothers? What’s the story on this? And is there any chance of it seeing the light of day?

Yeah man, that was a full part! That footage was from after Yeah Right. Newer stuff from skating with the enjoi dudes. Just fun footage, Tiltmode-style. A friend’s part in Bag of Suck… nothing super serious but really fun.

It was actually Ty who squashed the whole thing. He wanted all of Matt’s footage for Fully Flared, even though none of it was actually going to be used for Fully Flared. None of it. Like I said, it was all dorking around and cruising. But Ty found out about it and fucking shut that whole thing down. He wouldn’t even talk to Matt about it. Rick said it was rad and had given me the thumbs up but it ended up becoming such a fucking huge drama.

Ty told me to tell Evs to literally delete the entire file. Delete the whole part. Everything. This wasn’t even footage Ty had filmed so he actually didn’t have a say in it whatsoever, but he made such a production out of it that Matt and I both were like, "Fine. Fuck it. Jesus Christ.”

New Krooked edit featuring a new kid on the team who seems pretty sick.
The long bluntslide on the ledge off stairs is splendid. Always stoked to see new Worrest and Manderson footage too.

TJ doesn’t really repeat a trick.

Shame he got injured but still turned up. I’d be stoked to meet him in real life.

Bonus B Turner rap!

TJ Rogers is an absolute G. Truly an example of everything a pro skater should be. The crowds, the attitude towards the shops/kids, the work rate - just a brilliant person.

Re MJ part. It’s still amazing. I wish he’d used the Happy Mondays for the entire part though, looking back.

finally catching up - Daiki Hoshino is pretty special eh?

Which one? The one at the end of the line with the switch nosebump?

Also contender for best bigspin heelflip ever done in there too, over that gap in Melbourne. And cab flip, down the last set of stairs on that other Australian spot (I think it’s Sydney).

That spot was like the modern global version of the one Jason Lee skates in Video Days

and Dill in Snuff.

I was rude about Dill earlier just to be a twat. This Snuff part is the reason I learned fakie kickflips. Bravo.
