Slowly making my way through the new issue was a seriously cathartic and nostalgic experience for me. The weight, the smell, the Sidewalk-esque feel. Proper happy place stuff. Even seeing a Fracture ad again was like bumping into an old friend.
I’d pay a silly amount for a monthly release, but between this, Vague and Free, I’m really happy with my print media subscriptions right now.
Just pre-ordered issue 3. Still need to read the first two properly. Have a couple of free evenings this week will hopefully sit in the hammock, and catch up on the names I should know in all these dope clips with no names!
Sorry, late to this thread, but can one pick this up at WH Smith? I’m never near a skateshop these days due to my hermetic student life. Sounds really good though and I’d like to support it.
I know what you mean, it did become a recognisable cover layout for them. Especially as so many American mags at that time (transworld, skateboard Mag etc) were doing full bleed images with a ton of text laid over the top.
I think Horsley is doing the layout again, and he did all the Sidewalks…so, thats why it makes even more sense it would look the same.
But in a bigger picture sense - I think that there has been a Sidewalk shaped hole in the UK mags since those guys stopped print. So, even if it were a different crew, emulating it as a demonstration of intent is no bad thing. You know what you are getting, that way…
