Nope.
I just checked
Very interesting
A bit slow off the mark I know, but after hearing nothing but good things about it my order’s in and it arrives tomorrow. I’ll be checking the mailbox every five minutes in the morning.
Biggest brand in there with an ad is Vans. The production factor’s made more impressive considering it’s minus any of the bigs brands just mentioned, to me anyway.
Also, is it spoiler to talk about the actual contents of the mag yet?
Because reading “What your looking at there is a 24 can photo” in Denis’ accent killed me.
Yeah for sure
I can’t see that decision (as re the other ‘big brands’ not advertising) lasting considering the reception the first issue is getting online and the fact that it’s clearly fucking great.
Agree, but a potentially dodgy situation there. If the big brands decide to shift their budget away from Grey/ North into SC
I think it’s fair to say that with an actual price tag on the front and no Big Shoe Co. ads inside they’ll be able to put whatever they want in it, rather than having content ‘suggested’ by their advertisers. I’m sure that was part of the point of the mag but I’d had a few pints by then.
Different market.
Go on…
I did clock a Fracture add and a Route One back page ad though. Some ads for TKC brands too. Perhaps unsurprising given the old Sidewalk connections.
Mag is sick though. Very glossy.
The current mags are for people who already skateboard, and know all about it.
There are loads of new skateboarders who won’t understand what’s going on in the current free mags. This is in WH Smith and has Route One ads because it’s for those people but also for the massive amount of skateboarders who don’t go into skate shops.
I think it’s great that it’s started alongside all these new people. It’s a new mag for a new generation of skateboarders, really. And it’s got the best people behind it.
Yeah yeah I get that, my point was more that big shoe companies are going to allocate their budget to what gets seen. Feels like this could be prioritised over smaller mags
I’m not putting the blame on SC, more the higher ups at big brands going off what anon said that with such a positive reception they must take notice
Nah, they want their ads in those other mags because they can get all their guys in them.
But for all I know SC could’ve already rejected the big brand £££
True true, but think visibility of the mags does play a part, especially with physical skate shops being in a dodgy position which is where these mags get distributed by and large
@anonymity If you have time will we ever see some guest ed?
