Unless you’re talking the ones with the pockets all over them, or the massive seagull on the back I say go for it.

I thought it was just a running gag around actually starting a thread on a topic such as trousers.

Although I think I do prefer the idea that it’s something we always talk about but never actually get around to doing.

Haha rigid denim all the way. Though unless you have your own denim line, I imagine skating in selvedge denim gets expensive pretty quickly.
I love selvedge denim. Goes really soft after a few years. It would be hard to skate in when it’s fresh though unless he’s using some lightweight stuff for his.

It’s nice to see skateboarders skating in jeans that are the correct bagginess. Gilbert has gone way off piste in the past but these current trousers look good.
My list of the best trouser wearing skaters in history is probably…
- Gino (Perfect hem to trainer interface)
- Ray Barbee (Never wore a bad pair, even his drainpipes in Public Domain were sick)
- Drake Jones (sagged without ever overdoing it)
- Joey Bast (freshest outfits…shelltoes made it)
- Kareem Campbell (particularly the Guess jeans obviously)
Some really aspirational and inspirational trouser styles there though I never pulled it off as well as any of these guys.

The common thread here is fatter dudes shouldn’t wear jeans really. I’ve only really learned this recently looking at lockdown era photos of myself. No one is talking about Johnny Laytons jeans. It’s a pity cos sportswear is (or should be) out of bounds to fatties too. So you’re left with cords or chinos. Hobson’s choice.
