I’m not from Brighton but I know who you mean. It was Darius. That kid was once super good at skating but what started as OCD type issues soon spiralled into paranoid delusions and even more serious mental health issues. He unfortunately ended being sectioned and heavily medicated. He was unable to skate anymore and required a constant carer/ minder when he was occasionally allowed out. Really sad affair.
Yep, that stare he had could be proper scary - and those (multiple) trousers defied the laws of physics.

On the subject of strides.
Just found/bought the holy grail of kegs and the nearest thing I’ll probably ever get to the Menace jumbo cords that I owned in the late 90’s.
Basically jumbo cord carpenter steez, baggy and drawstring waist but not joggers.
For a the fatter lad - a Godsend.

Update on those cord combats - shite.
- the groin area is weird so it can look like you’ve got a constant semi unless you wear them high which, whilst removing the phantom semi, makes you look like one of the pedo characters from Brass Eye.
- They ripped through doing nothing. They’re shit.
So instead I’ve thrown my hat into the sustainable kegs ring and bought some vintage carharrt combats from that rerunstreetwear outfit in Bristol which is run by skaters.

I bought a pair of Volcom Solvers on eBay as those are always great but sadly hard to find here. There was no mention of the name of the colourway or fabric the trousers were made of in the item description, I didn’t think much of it as I have 3 pairs and they’re all really good. Trousers came, they have the right fit but are made of like 80% cotton and 20% hemp, which means they have no stretch, which means I can’t skate in them. Lesson learnt. No biggie, they’re great and were cheap.
I got some solvers, theyre stretchy denim and comfy as hell but they dont have a belt loop on one side at the front which is really weird
