The TV Thread

Are you talking about why it is being put out again, now?

It still has relevancy in a lot of ways but it also has kind of a UK cultural history, too. It’s a bit of a cult film.

I think the messaging of “It’s better to get along” will always be relevant. Same as “Be careful what you wish for.”

I wonder how that Iranian nuclear bomb test went the other day?

Yeah of course, it’s always relevant but right now it’s crucial to get people to look up from their insular feeds and realise that others in the world are having the worst time imaginable.
I do hope that people tune in.

The Idea that a country is flexing their nuclear arsenal is really worrying. Whether it will escalate or de-escalate things, who knows.

Does make me wonder if a new BoC album will drop at the same time though ha!

Never seen Threads. Not in the mood rn. We did have sirens going off during school in the 80s for drills etc, protect and survive booklets etc. Fuck surviving that anyway

40th anniversary since its first airing was just over a week ago. Might watch it tonight but I’m ill with a cold. Which sucks.

If I could guarantee it was on catch up i’d leave it tonight and watch at the weekend but I’ll at least start it and see if it comes up on Iplayer to watch later
Anyone else going in?

Probably, likely….

They’ve only bloody done it! (Maybe a misquote!)

Decided to go in, hard and deep.

Started this on your recommendation. Enjoyable stuff and even a skateboarding reference. What’s not to like ?

Was there? I missed that.

I only meant the bit in the lift with his boss where he’s meant to be completely out of touch with everything so mentions something about kids and their skateboards.

Ah yeah. I thought one of the characters was called Gino Iannucci or something

Piece about forum favourite The Detectorists, a show about ‘blokes and their hobbies’, very fitting.

Thats weird. I’ve been listening to loads of old RHLSTP’s as background when I’m working from home and as you posted that I’m at the point where Mackenzie Crook is talking about where the Detectorists came from:

Cosmic.

Series 1 of Colin From Accounts - :+1:

Series 2 - Actively unpleasant to watch. The second series of The Office levels of painful cringe.

I thought it had it’s moments but that proposal scene, what were they thinking?

Might want to spoiler blur that one.

And yes. Horrible!

Not finished them all yet but it definitely has a different feel to it.

We rewatched Series 1 as a recap and it’s so good.
