The TV Thread

It’s good but not as good as The Penguin.

+1 for the Jackal everything you think it’s going to be. Redmayne is fantastic as usual

I’m just on ep6 of The Penguin.
It’s great.
Like The Sopranos with a wobbly walk.

Yup. Finished it. Banging!

Fantastic show, Cristin Milloti as bloody terrifying. It’s amazing how they made a Batman villain likeable before you realise “oh yeah, he’s a bad guy”

Penguin was fucking great, not flawless but so good for lots of reasons. Cristin Millotti is well scary, and the way she smokes cigs made me want to start again.
The only bummer is that it’s leading up to all the major characters being in the next Batman movie, and I can’t see that being as good…

Anyone watching The Franchise (hbo/now tv)? I put it on randomly not knowing anything about it and turns out it’s by Armando IIannuchi.

I’m finding it pretty hilarious though I’ve seen some criticisms that it’s too specific to the film industry. Having worked in the theatre industry I’ve defiantly experienced a lot of this. I’m sure @chopper can relate haha

Even if it’s shit, i’ll still like it, Armando is a saviour.

Instantly recognised leavesden studios ( Harry Potter world studios) from the trailer .
Ha well if only it was that colourful full in real life , it’s much more dull in the studio on shoot days , they drag on and on . The only real chaos is when certain directors come in and change everything last minute and it goes to hell for everyone.

Looking forward to seeing this tho , definitely everyone speaking out loud rather than in their heads lol .

Watched 2 episodes last night. Terrible. Armando needs to bin off his swearing consultant, and come up with some new ideas away from a constant stream of people trying to inventively insult each other. Basically an attempt to rehash In the Thick of it, but in a different industry, and it’s just not funny. I think I tittered twice, in total.

That’s worrying.

I find tv in general really hard to enjoy these days. Last prog i got into was salvage hunters, basically a bloke rooting through dusty light fittings, apart from that I’d rather watch a nerd talking about drum machines in his shed or something on YouTube. Is it just me? Entertainment just isn’t very entertaining anymore

Just started The Listeners on Iplayer. It’s about “The hum”. I mentioned on here earlier on in the year and then someone else mentioned it a couple of months ago. It’s been dramatised. Not sure on the side plot but I guess it’s got to have another plot that people who haven’t ben hearing the hum can grab onto or relate to.

I just rewatched the first series of Wolf Hall in prep for the new series.

They’ve had to recast like a million people. Full Fresh Prince Aunt Viv switcheroo’s but all over the place. Maybe they would get away with it if you left it 10 years between watching it rather than 10 minutes.

It looks really bad too. This series just looks like a bunch of people mincing around stately homes.

I’ve never read the books but can only imagine the hallucinogenic conversations with ghosts would work better on paper than on screen.

Quite, quite shit.

Balls wrong thread

I know this is broken record territory but on season 3 of The Sopranos and it’s like TV crack. So watchable. First time around I thought there were too many of the therapist scenes but it’s proper TV gold.
