The TV Thread

Very late to the party but started watching Inside No 9 and really enjoying it. Nice that there isnt a continuing story so you can dip in and out

Yeah I love that show even though there are definitely some episodes I didn’t particularly enjoy watching, I just like the way it’s a different story each time and you know they’ll be a great one on the way. The Halloween special was amazing to watch on live tv.

Currently watching the finale of Day of the Jackal. Eddie Redmayne would make an excellent bond.

That’s next on the list after I’ve slogged through Wolf Hall.

Any good?

I love the book but judging just by the background screens I get on my Sky homepage I doubt it even pays a passing similarity to it.

I’ve not read the book, but as tv spy thrillers go, I can’t think of much better from recent memory. It’s really gripped me.

I’ve never given Eddie Redmayne much thought as an actor before, but he’s really great in this

As BvS has said Eddie Redmayne in a completely new light. Best series I’ve watched in years. But won’t want to get your hopes up.

You can appreciate the book and the series side by side but they’re not the same. Both great.

Cosigning Day of the Jackal. Only 4 ep’s in but been very impressed with it. Always thought Eddie Redmayne was a total sap, but I’ve had to change my tune after this. He’s very good.

There’s a second season coming. Hopefully they dig into his upbringing a bit to see how he ended up like he did and also a rival elite assassin trying to take him out would be a good sub plot.

It’s funny to think that it’s forty years since this was first shown on tv. I loved it then and was so glad I taped it. It got a viewing every year for quite some time. I bought the DVD when it was released and, even though I haven’t really given two hoots about Christmas for a long while, it gets an outing each year.

I’d recommend one episode a night on the run up to Christmas Eve and so Wednesday would be the starting point for that. The effects mightn’t seem as special as they did back in 84 but I would hope that kids, (and old duffers of a certain age), would still find this magical.

Yes, remember it well - particularly the flying car! Might have to give it a watch.

I remember the couple of Christmas eves in the 80s where they showed monster trucks on ITV in the morning. I bloody loved it.

Hearing one of the triggermen talk like Paddington distracted me temporarily.

I’ve watched all of these over the past couple of days. Had quite a bewitching effect on me in keeping with the subject matter as I was transported right back in to my nine year old head. Such an incredible score/opening sequence, with that touch of darkness/foreboding the best kids tv tends to pull off.

Not sure why but I persisted with 3 body problem. Pretty shit but want to see how shit the ending is.

Anyone been watching Landman with Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm?

Really fucking good.
