I really struggled with the first 3 episodes. thought it was so so boring but now I am hooked.

i started watching the first new episode fully expecting to get bored; crawled into bed many hours later having chomped through the lot, ha
BUT
it hasnt really progressd too much - its comfortably formulaic, a bit like 411VM.
happily, i’m quite fond of the characters - Uma Thurman’s daughter rules
Been rewatching the earlier episodes with my youngest daughter. It was great when it started, went downhill rapidly after season 2.

Just watched the fourth episode of the new series with my wife (she’s a tv writer) and she reckons it’s because the Duffer brothers have too much creative control. She thinks Netflix would have employed shit hot script editors at the start but now the franchise is so popular the creators can demand more autonomy.
They’ve gone down the route of tying up every story thread and leaving no loose ends which has resulted in the script becoming expositional. The script was arguably too loose at the start anyway so you have loads of supplementary plots and characters that all have to be explained and tied up. Basically ruins it because instead of creating atmosphere and dropping sweet 80s Easter eggs they’re just explaining everything to the audience.

It’s at the point now where me and the Mrs are deffo going to watch the final episodes that come out but only because we need to finish it. We aren’t looking forward to them and we don’t care what’s going to happen. We just need to see it end.

Yes, been watching it with the missus, she likes it, but it’s a lesson in “less is more”. First season was good as it was new and had a real ET/Goonies feel to it, now it’s a bunch of adults pretending to be teenagers while having “weren’t the 80’s cool” and Kate Bush shoved in our faces for hours at a time.
People, kids, have been killed relentlessly in this but very few people seem to care in the town, the town should be acting like their arse is about to fall out at any minute but everyones acting like it barely matters

Stranger Things is so dull. None of it makes sense. The main characters arent likeable. Everyone is shouting. Can’t be bothered now but finishing it out of spite.
Feels like the Matrix. The first film (season) was amazing then everything afterwards is just a massive incoherent mess defended endlessly by fanboys because “it can’t be shit, the 80’s”

Maya Hawke was introduced in season 3 I think, and at first she was likeable and an antidote to most other characters, now they’ve managed to batter her with the annoying stick as well
I think Stranger things suffers from the same thing any horror film does. Nothing is scary anymore, you literally can’t make a scary villain, they always look stupid and fake. I guess that’s what they are going for maybe, something akin to Freddie/living dead zombie etc but Veckner is a laughable looking dude.
Shit got silly real quick with it but I think I’m embracing it for the most part. It’s really shit but i’m still kinda enjoying it.
