Watched 2 episodes and already in love with it. Going from some a heart wrenching sombre moment to the string of shopfloor lies was glorious. Subtle viewing but emotional rollercoaster.
Started watching it this morning with brekkie, lasted 10 minutes before I turned it off because it deserves more time and attention than I had at that time of day. Very Detectorists feeling to it (cast members and McKenzie Crook) and just that very ordinary but an air of extraordinary feeling to it.
Loved the “paint” conversation and the “brazil nuts”
Really enjoyed tiny prophets. Lots of little bits of joy dotted in there.
Mckenzie Crook’s reach around pony tail stroke had me creasing.
I enjoyed Tiny Prophets potential, I found a lot of the exposition very clunky and shoehorned in where needed, like some of the characters, some of the acting wasn’t great too. A good idea was stretched far too thin to make six episodes but I did ultimately like it and am looking forward to the next series. I’m just such a picky arsehole lately.
First it was Malcolm in the Middle and now Scrubs is back too (which doesn’t look great from this)…
did take away from the trailer that Dr Cox has an oil painting in his attic compared to everyone else
I also thought the trailer looked so bad I had to it wasn’t an AI fan made trailer
Hmm, could be good, will likely not be.
How is everyone still working in the same place 20 years later? Surely they’d all have moved on? And most importantly, where’s the Janitor?
For something that isn’t rebooted nostalgia bait, I’ve really been enjoying Unfamiliar on Netflix. A properly good German spy drama - only 6 eps so you can binge it in a week.
I feel like of all things to be “rebooted”, surely comedy show reboots are always destined to fail, unless there’s a very good reason to do it.
I could see an interesting new season of something like Peep Show being possible, where there’s a natural evolution of what could be funny, but not something where the age/setting/contemporaryness of it is the main selling point of the humour, which is absolutely what Scrubs was.
Just finished this.
I did enjoy watching it but I don’t really know what to make of it in the end.
The central premise is so unhinged you either have to go with it or it doesn’t work. An hour so after, I’m still not 100% sure where I sit with it.
Without a doubt, one thing you can say about is is it’s genuinely orginal.
The portrayal of the suburban curtain twitchers was very good and the music is really nice.
Major ending Spoilers:
How the fuck are they going to continue the story?
I know they can continue following Michael’s search but what’s he going to do? Grow the prophets again? How can his and Kacey’s paths ever cross again?
Don’t really feel the need to watch him go through that process again.
…But then without them you lose the whole point of everything. Hmm.
Just finished it myself. It’s like a modern day folk tale.
I liked how the neighbours house was just grey boring everything, the kitchen with bugger all on the worktops and the grey and silver bedroom and Audi. A reflection of him, typical suburbanite with sod all going on other than complaining about the neighbours hedge
I agree with what you say.
Major ending Spoilers:
Maybe if they have won the lottery then they have the money to visit each other and we get an international series
They could bypass the whole growing them again and just start with fully grown prophets
On the other hand, they might not have won anything more than a tenner and we’re back where we started - either way, I’m up for it
Only 3 grew. The others might and dennis pennis might have them.
Rewatching Southland as it’s currently on Netflix, just finished season 1. So good.
Southland is up there with the Shield as one of the best cop shows.
Watched it through twice and I doubt it would feel like a chore to watch it one more time.
Yeah I’m rewatching it now as well. Already on s3.
I haven’t seen it since it was originally on so other than a few episodes I can’t really remember much of the plot, which is making it feel new.
Everyone made a big deal at the time about how weird it was for the guy from the OC to be playing a cop, but watching it now he’s as believable as anyone else
Can’t hurt!
I know what you mean, haven’t watched it since the first time either, so great ![]()
Southland is incredible from start to finish
I got reminded that Shogun existed as a TV series I wanted to watch.
Watched it over the past couple of weeks and it was really, really good.
It’s incredibly well shot.
Lots of doulbe crossing and plot points to remember for those who enjoy having their attention filled.
If you have space for it, I’d recommend.
The book is amazing. Much more balanced than the new show which is more Japanese focused (the 70s/80s) version was more focused on the euros.
Think they’re doing another season which will inevitably fuck it too high heaven
Just peeped Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere.
Holy shit. Don’t even know what to say. Just…madness. Such fragile egos hiding behind shouty faces.
It’s fucking terrifying how the self-awareness levels of these guys are so low - but they don’t care and shout the hipocracy out of the room…and then they find audiences who will invest.
Like, actually preying on little kids under the guise of ‘building their audience.’
Grim as fuck. Which I think everyone knew already - but still…shocking levels of dumb out there.
