Trick of the month- June - crook

Crispy!

I did a couple of slappy ones on the new curb at Spit yesterday.

Haha, that’s a pretty nightmarish combo.

I had about 5 attempts last night but I was knackered.

Also - are you guys uploading to YouTube or something else?

Chuck em on Streamable, it doesn’t stay up for long but that’s kind of a good thing haha.

Add 4 hours of sleep last night and you know why I didn’t skate for really long, haha.

Alright, let’s take a nap now.

Tried them on a curb popping into them on Monday, can’t get it to lock in properly, end up doing sort of wonky nose grinds or a nose grind with the tip on my nose down.

Gonna try again tomorrow assuming weather behaves, I skate I guess medium tightness trucks maybe loosening a bit might make the pinch easier ? or maybe just need to land with loads more weight on my front heel.

Think noseslide but with the heelside wheel on top of the ledge/curb.

Hang your foot off over the heel wheel and stand on it. Should work.

if you’re gonna pop into them it’ll deffo be easier on something a little higher i think. i find i can only do them on curbs if they’re slappy or like “ghost pop” or whatever

Yeah higher is easier…up to a point

That short, low little rail I posted up there is absolutely horrible to do them on.

yeah and you properly popped into that too!

when i say “higher” i definitely don’t mean high. perhaps medium

Thanks!

@Frasersnacks - mad coincidence I had this Tom Asta vid running in the background whilst reading this topic and he starts talking about the b/s crook:

Thanks Mike, looking at his it’s like I do the first bit when he first pops in for a split second and starts to grind then he shifts his weight so his heel goes down and it locks in, reckon that’s what I need to do. Think I’ve figured out an optimum sized ledge to try it on so hopefully the weather holds tomorrow.

No worries - I was there for the front tail slide initially.

All I seem to be doing with crooks at the moment is smacking my front truck into the ledge not onto it

Trying to learn something new for this TOTM so please forgive the lack of movement and lack of grinding -

Weird feeling trick

Well tech.

I want to do a nice long one. Going skating tonight hopefully. But doubtful I’ll film anything.

Might have a go at a slappy bs crook. I’ve kind of got into some but not with the proper form.

Battled it for a good two hours or so in the sun this morning. Definitely helps doing it on a mid sized block when you’re popping into it. Managing to get it to lock in properly now, thought I’d done a sketchy one but it wasn’t properly locked, definitely helps thinking of it as a noseslide, makes me get more on top of it. Getting it to grind but then it would flip as I was getting out need to work on the pressure nollie out bit.

Tried and tried was getting close, just got too tired to carry on today.

Next time

Going to try tomorrow morning if a) I’m not too hungover and b) I don’t bottle going to Stoke Plaza on my Todd

Get it !

Could always go for a ride on type one on the Pier 7 bit, wish I’d managed to skate more when we went, only realised listening to Mostly Skateboarding that the other bit is recreation of the levels from Love Park.

I live 15 mins away and it’s probably a decade since I skated there!

I’m hoping to get there, quick warm up, smash out some stunts (the same ones I always do ) then be home by 11 to sort the caravan out for the weekend.
