Awesome got ya - right, time to get off for a weekend break
are we gonna ignore the FREE stroller in the back??? p.s tht was clean
Haha that’s my lads, he was playing with his toy cars on the quarter pipes i never use! He also had a go on my board which was nice to see!
Went to that new park in Broxtowe today with the intention of getting a nice crook but had had to leave after 15 mins after being bombarded with stones by a group of scrotes
You guys rule, I’m always so stoked on everyone’s clips!
WOMP WOMP so it ain’t free then. But Lol we got a future pro or what?
Man that’s wank
Went skating this morning for the first time in 12 months (and also only the 4th time in about 3 years). I didn’t hate it, in fact I actually really enjoyed it, despite having no pop, no flick, and the board control of an 8 year old.
I was determined to get a crook as they were always my go to ledge trick, so behold, the ropiest grind on the smallest unwaxed ledge in London. Also apologies for the after school modelling, put that down to me barely hanging on.
Hopefully fakie Suskies count.
This trick scares the shit out of me. Flop out is the best I could manage.
You grinded the whole thing! Rad.
Try it on something higher and pretend you’re doing a nosewheelie, the pop out at the end of the ledge will come naturally.
Yeah it is too low really. You have to do a weird non-pop to get into it.
I could do them easy 20 years ago. Got the fear now though.
Your frontside nollie k is so good. I couldn’t do that in my dreams.
Try them again on something higher sorta regularly and you’ll have overcome the fear soon. Crooks aren’t really dangerous on ledges, you can’t really get hurt trying them. Or if you feel comfortable on your DIY grind box, maybe put it on some bricks or on a couple Euro-pallets or whatever and practice them on that.
Thanks for the kind words! I tried to get a frontside 180 switch K à la Scott Johnston first but I quickly realized it wasn’t gonna happen with new shoes. Glad I got this instead, hadn’t tried it in a while.
Small postscript to my crook flop outs from the other night
I really really need to get on the train and skate this thing
Can you do mornings? Tuesday/Friday gimme a shout. I was there today skating it slow and steady trying to learn noseslide to switch 5-0.
It would be better if it had a steeper longer bank and a less knackered curb, but if it was better it would simultaneously be worse for idiosyncratic reasons I can’t fully justify.
Having a right battle with b/s crooks
Watched my attempts back and I’m too forward on my toes and not sitting on my heel.
Weekends only for an early one. I might try to make an evening weekday session soon though
