You got to understand this underlying theme of imperialism and aggression is part of the Russian psyche. If thereâs a coup, it will probably be a military guy and they arenât really known for their business nous.

Thereâs some debate on what will happen on May 9th, which is âVictory Dayâ in Russia, where they were originally expected to celebrate their defeat of Ukraine.
Obviously that hasnât happened and there were also rumours that Putin would formally declare war on Ukraine and begin countrywide mobilisation (men are expected to join the army and fight) on that date. But this brings a whole new level of shit to the table for him. Thereâs another theory that he will, using the usual mental gymnastics, somehow proclaim victory for whatever they have achieved (possibly taking Mariupol if they manage to finish it in time), as this gives him a way out and it can be moulded whichever which way they like through propaganda.

Today is victory Day in Russia. So expect Putin to reveal more about plans for Ukraine.
Also, this showing signs of general mobilisation, which is a pretty big deal and sign of escalation

On the plus side he didnât declare it a war and go all in.
I think heâs stuck where he is. If he officially declares full blown war theyâll hate him, if he declares victory they all know itâs bullshit and theyâll hate him. Either way heâs screwed, thereâs only so long you can keep doubling down.

Vlad threatening âconsequencesâ for Finland and Sweden joining NATO is very silly. Russia are clearly not equipped to react in any way beyond being openly cross about the whole thing. Whatâs he proposing? War with NATO when heâs lost a third of his forces ransacking Ukraine. The man is delusional.

Very interesting that someone actually tells it like it is on Russian state TV show.
As all commentary is Kremlin approved they may be starting to prep the russian public for one of two things: either mass mobilisation (I hope not, and the guy said that their own troops lack motivation contrary to Ukrainian troops) or failure of their âmilitary operationâ as they are falling back on the âpoor Russia: the whole world and NATO is against usâ etc
