Anyone else into this? Will be glued to the US news coverage of it from tomorrow.
Haven’t put money down but I think/am hoping it could be a landslide for the Dems.
So much hanging in the balance. For context, if trump gets in US aid to Ukraine will likely stop, he will destabilise NATO which could mean war spills into the Baltic states, of which Estonia is probably the easiest to roll over.
It’s wild that a few thousand voters in Pennsylvania could determine whether I have to move country!
Really interesting poll came out of Iowa over the last few days - a Republican stronghold - which has Kamala 3 points ahead!
I would love it, LOVE IT, if she beat that piece of shit. Hopefully American women are about to kick him to the curb. Could see a massive gender divide happening in voting.
Feels like Kamala might win by a very small margin, and Trump will kick off with the stolen election narrative. Whatever the outcome it won’t be the last we hear from him sadly
I’m all for Kamala to get the win but I’m not liking how close the media are calling it. America is seriously split down the middle. There will be trouble no matter who wins.
I’m convinced Trump has lost a lot of undecided voters simply because of Jan 6th, all the court cases, and guardian’s been posting about his closet connections to Epstein… Also his general messaging is all over the place undermineing his credibility further.
But, wife keeps telling me even if Kamala got more votes in a close count, it all comes down to the weird American system of college electorate or something. That’s how baddies have won it in the past.
With the electoral college system, in the past, you could lose the traditional ‘most votes’ (aka ‘popular vote’) yet still win the election.
Case in point, trump lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million in 2016 to Hillary Clinton, yet won via the electoral college system which is how the winner is officially determined.
Isn’t the electoral college system basically how America is not really a democratic country (even though it claims to be, land of the free)?
No vote is ever really a vote in the same way it is here. If 90% of Americans voted for something it doesn’t mean it’d happen.
The American system is set out so the public can never self sabotage the country (it would have stopped Brexit after the vote outcome even though it was the ‘people’s will’). The government will always ultimately decide on what the outcome will be on everything, vote or not.
I read these articles today, and they’re both saying the exact same thing, just from either view point. And what’s interesting is that, whiles there’s slightly more fearmongering in the Fox article, both outcomes are mostly comparable.
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, has suggested that if Democrats sweep the 2024 elections, they will control the nation for a century.
He predicted that if Democrats win both chambers of Congress and the White House, they will eliminate the filibuster in the Senate, add justices to the U.S. Supreme Court
“The courts will be replaced by loyalists, as we have already seen with the supreme court of the United States.” If Trump wins, Stanley said, “America will be a one-party state from now on”
