Yeah I just queued up everything and shut it and left for an afternoon
Just a heads up on using a big SD card it makes start up quite slow. I have a 64GB in there and takes maybe like 30secs to first power on but once its on there’s no slowdown or anything.
Also recommend getting a telescopic stylus off eBay as the stock ones tiny and annoying to use
I’ve got maybe like 40 odd on there, not sure how much space is left. It’s hard to say really as the file sizes vary quite a lot. Like one of the Virtual Console Game Boy games can be a couple MB whilst the bigger 3DS games can be 1-4 GB.
I’d just stick with 128GB you won’t have to worry about running out of space
Yeah some gems in there, touch screen/ 2 screen factor also means a lot of these will likely never get a re-release/ remaster
As for emulation I gave it a try for DS and GBA and both took so long to load up a game that I gave up and didn’t really bother with it. Especially since I have the SNES/MD apps on my Switch and a hacked PSP
Interrupting to say that TOTK has exceeded all expectations. At first I was worried it wouldn’t be as good as BOTW but it’s amazing. There’s so much stuff to do and find and the building stuff is as good as you want it to be depending on your creativity.
I didn’t update latest software and found a duplicate item glitch which has actually made it more fun as I can build stuff.
Will dick about and then play it properly without cheesing.
I don’t have a 3DS, but yeah, this is not a 3DS issue. It’s just tech which wasn’t built for these huge cards.
I have a Sony Walkman and I tried to stick a 512gb card in there and it just couldn’t cope. It’d take 10 mins to boot.
I found it was better to have a few 64gb cards and use them like an old Walkman. Just choose that one card to take out for the day…and then on trips I’d take the lot just in case I really, really needed to access that random other stuff.
It’s definitely a technique you could use for video games, too.
I wouldn’t stress it, did some research when I was setting mine up the consensus on Reddit was anything up to and including 128GB is fine, I just happened to have a 64GB sitting around the house already. As I said the start up is a little slow but no issues once its on, switching games and everything is effortless
Yeah it’s definitely an experience, I found it beautiful and charming personally. It’s basically a bite sized version of the series that the developer Millennium Kitchen are known for: Boku no Natsuyasumi (My Summer Vacation in Japanese) which have never been properly translated into English, though number 2 in the series just got a fan translation.
Not sure if you’re familiar with Tim Rogers but he has an incredible, beautiful 6 hour YouTube essay on the game:
