I’ve been thinking about Desert Strike a lot recently. I’ve got an emulator etc for 2DS but it’s a bit small for my old eyes.
Yeah im running a MD emulator on my modded 3DS. Resolution is just about big enough for me.
Been trying to play Comix Zone. It’s so hard.

Tempted to look into getting a mod chip for my Switch.
My lad really got into football through playing Fifa/EA FC with me. I used to take it easy playing against him, but now he thrashes me!
On the subject of unsuitable games, he’s talking about playing the new GTA when it comes out.
I’ve said absolutely not due to the content, but I really want to play it! Might have to keep the disc under lock and key.
Really?! One of the best MD games. The controls were amazing. iirc a six button controller made it even better to play
It’s tough though. Really tough. I think you can get it for the Switch.
I wouldn’t mod a switch yet. Seems easy to brick them forever.

I finally got Balatro. Played it until 2am last night and had to stop myself then.
I barely understand wtf is going on. It seems to rotally depend on what jokers you get as to how possible it us to continue.
Does your deck permanently change between runs?

Nope you start with a fresh deck every time. I’m still not great at it but yeah usually it will be the first few jokers/planet cards you get that will end up dictating what sort of strategy you’re going to use. Then you use the Arcana packs to destroy/duplicate/transform cards to optimise your deck.
In terms of what to spend you’re money on I’d prioritise good Jokers, then Spectral packs, then Planet/Arcana packs. I rarely just bother with the Playing Card packs unless you have a good startegy. Also don’t be afraid to Skip on a pack once it’s opened if nothing decent is in there.
As you play more though you’ll unlock more and more Uncommon/Rare Jokers which will make things easier
It’s on phones now too, always having it in my pocket is such a treat/danger

Ah I thought you were basically supposed to lose but gradually upgrade your deck over time to make it easier to score the big points.
Whats the point of the stone cards? Just a quick way of adding chips to your base score?
Each Joker has some specific unlock conditions so basically just by playing more and more runs you unlock more available Jokers to buy in the shop in subsequent runs which in theory makes it easier to win as you’ve got more options for strategy. You always start each run with the same basic 52 card deck.
Stone cards I never really bother with but yeah in theory it’s just to add additional chips.
Also worth bearing in mind the order your Jokers are arranged up top influences the score calculation as it goes left to right. So you really want Jokers that add chips and multi first followed by ones that multiply multi. You can drag and drop them to order correctly

I’m slowly beginning to understand it. Get good x multiplier jokers at first then try and level up the hands as you go on.
I just spent 55 minutes on one go and was short by like 100 points on one blind. Game over. All the way back to the start.
How long does it take to finish a run? Can you even finish it?

Yeah I’d say on a fresh copy of the game without many Jokers unlocked it’s going to be much harder to beat. Completing Ante 8 counts as ‘Beating’ it for that deck but then you can carry on in ‘Endless Mode’ further where the points to beat just goes through the roof by like Ante 10. There are unlocks to be got past Ante 8 so always worth carrying on playing and see how far you can go
You’ll unlock more and more decks as you beat it with the starting decks which have a number of different conditions. My point before about it being the same 52 card deck applies to the first few decks but then you’ll get ones with no face cards, only two suits etc.
First few times I beat it I just focused on really upgrading Pairs

Done it twice but not in a way i feel proud of.
I got a joker that multiplies by the amount of times you’ve used the hand, along with one that gave 20 multipler when you use 3 or less cards and one with gave 2x multiples if you never discard and maybe another one which gave 2x on top of that.
I just used high cards, found as many pluto cards to keep multiplying the high card base. Then I just used the tarots to upgrade my face cards and aces and just selected the highest card in my deck. I basically couldn’t lose (until ante 10 or something).
Then i did the same but with pairs.
Didn’t feel in the spirit of the game though…
It’s beyond addictive.

Yeah agreed, I just did a few of these to start unlocking more Jokers/ Decks and open the game up a bit

It’s important I ban myself from this game. I don’t think I’ve ever played anything more addictive than this.
I just won ante 8 with a 2 hand size. Was just selecting the first card and destroying the rounds. I had a machine that made lovely bing boing noises as my score exploded. So fun.

I’m an absolute n00b with modern gaming so some advice would be great. I wanna get Spiderman 2 for my PS5 as digital download but trying to see if there is a cheaper way than the £70 the Playstation store has it for. Are there any websites that offer cheaper digital download codes?
What’s game pass have you got?
I used cdkeys to get xbox gamepass cheaper and it worked.
