I haven’t played it for 2 months i think.
2 months sober. ![]()
I have no idea what VR is. Could I do a VR on my TRS-80? I like to play Zork and Colossal Cave Adventure and when I can find a coin-op cabinet I love a bit of Polybius. Also, @Ssanat, it needs to be said, you’re nowhere near as much fun as @HeelflipFrog
Been playing the early access of Skate this evening… It’s no Skate 3 and as mentioned in various places it’s visuals are very Fortnite-esque. However I had some fun playing it. An upscaled Skate 3 would of been the dream though.
I didn’t like Skate 3 as much as the first two; and I think by the looks of it the “skate” aspect has been lost behind Skate 3’s instagram/TikTok success. Like, they’ve gone for the ridiculous and memeable bits that Skate 3 has become famous for long since its heyday.
What’s the flow of the city like?
I only got about 45 minutes in it. And naturally I wanted to play it realistically..
The map links up nicely, but the basic movement does feel quite heavy as weird as that sounds. It’s interesting they moved so far away from the original games considering the massive campaign to make Skate 4. And with the game being free I don’t want to complain too hard. Admittedly I ain’t paying for virtual apparel to customise my character… But that does leave my character looking nothing like I would like it to.
I think if it wasn’t called Skate and was a brand new game that I had didn’t know had anything to do with the original skate game i’d be less critical and would enjoy it for what it is, as I am looking forward to have a swift half hour on my lunch break tomorrow.
Loved Skate and Skate 2. Didn’t get so far into Skate 3 as the team thing wasn’t grabbing me tbh and it wouldn’t let me name my team as serial killers. Used to have a good laugh in the online comps. Kickflip late back/front somersault into the reservoir was well realistic.
It’s fun, but I would love to be able to turn off all the mission, own the spot shit etc and just play it by myself without other people in the map.
Takes some getting used to after playing the dual stick skate games (Session and SkaterXL)
Is it worth paying for it? Or just stick with Free version?
I paid for Session and I must have played it like twice, fucking hated it.
There’s no paid version. It’s free to play and riddled with microtransactions.
Interesting that they ask you when you first start how interested in skate culture you are, and then launch you into a game seemingly devoid of it.
Yeah those are said microtransactions. You can pay a bit and you get some in game money for in game shoes and stuff but the base game is free.
Oh crap so literally just like FIFA points
I’ve never been able to get my head around these micro transactions. Used to love games where you could spend hours just making daft characters. It would cost a small fortune to do that now. Any game where you could make people taller would have Bob the giant made.
Skate 2 got taken off Xbox store and shot up in price 2nd hand.
I don’t remember playing it although I had it.
I got quite into Session, there’s a bit of a learning curve but once it clicks it’s pretty fun.
Been playing it for about an hour. My daughter has chosen my outfit on it, so I’m cruising round the city in a little crop top ![]()
It feels too easy. Skate was great because it was actually tricky and you got loads of satisfaction from basic tricks. This is more like Tony Hawk where you can just button bash and land massive combos.
It’s definitely got potential and it’s only in early access but I’m defo not going to be one obsessed with it just yet.
I can’t deal with the Fortnite look and the voices are annoying.
Tranny skating felt promising, gonna session getting fast front 5-0s down in bowls.
Played for an hour or so and I’m pretty sure I hate it.
I think I’ll just go Skate for real instead.
Also Skate was released 18 years ago. Which feels like 5 minutes ago.
