How many millions of public money have we spent failing to get medals in some of these sports while the fucking swimming pool here can barely afford to stay open? I guess it is really vital for people to see it on the telly so it’ll inspire them to get up off the sofa and go out and participate in grass roots luge and skeleton.

If someone wants to pay me to live in the alps and have no hope for a medal I’d be quite interested 
I’m pretty sure most U.K. athletes live off any scraps of sponsorship they can get and lottery funding. There is basically fuck all government funding for most sports. Some having day jobs still.

I’m not saying the athletes are living it up at my expense just questioning whether public money should be supporting it.
Really enjoyed Birk Ruud in the men’s ski slopestyle. Checked his Insta and he skates too. Gonna watch the women’s finals next. Prob my fave event of the winter olympics.

Agree that looks mint but one thing that always sticks in my brain is how the snowboard commentators say the judges will look for an indy to have the straightest legs possible where I can only imagine that looking shit.

Saw the controversy with that on the news which said that touching the granite is against the rules, and the argument from the Canadian dude was that that was his ‘technique’ that he likes to use? Like how is that a defence? If my technique for taking a penalty is I like to take a couple of extra touches before shooting then I’m kinda out of luck with it
