Blodney you plonker!

Those felt like a small part of one of those biographical shows they’d do for someone massively famous or who had had a long career spanning decades, are people that interested in hearing about him and his views again? Not sure I’d watch again but it passed some time I suppose.

Yeah, sound dude. I guess some of the old accusations of cultural appropriation would have stuck if he’d tried to give the old “apples and pears” shtick, but he seems to be true to himself and his roots. I also don’t get the people who bag on his skating. He’s fucking sick and has a deeper trick bag than people give him credit for. Yes, he does loads of impossibles, but has one of the best imo. I don’t care how much he does them.

Never thought there was much doubt he was sound it’s just this sense of pride in himself that he ‘works hard’ that I can’t get behind when he’s produced nothing really significant (in art, skating, fashion, anything) he just has the level of privilege that affords him the luxury of being able to pick and choose what he wants to work hard on at his own leisure. He’s achieved his status because he wore cool clothes and kids these days aspire to be rich and wear cool clothes and once you’ve achieved that status it just opens door after door.

Tha’ts true to an extent, but you can’t help if your parents have money/don’t have monet and that money has obviously afforded him the opportunities but he seems well aware of that. How many early 20’s artists do you know that can afford what is essentially a full on office space in the middle of Soho? The rent on that place must be ridiculous.

I’ve been as critical as anyone of Blondey, I think his book is embarrassing and his art is A-level standard. But you can’t buy your way into having a pro shoe and as much as I don’t really enjoy his skating, if he hadn’t have put the effort into skating he would never have got on Palace in the first place. I have to admit that video changed my opinion of him.

I think having a big Instagram following dictated that which he generated from factors I mentioned in my previous post

Not saying this isn’t necessarily true but where did you get that impression? I’ve always felt the money thing was a bit an elephant in the room with him as it is with pretty much all current creatives from money

I think he said it in the first video, about how it’s always something he has to explain. I’m won’t say he’s 100% aware – the comment about how living in the flats behind the LCD screens would be a ‘fantastical existence’ as misplaced given how actually, those flats were essentially slums and the people living there were mostly people on the lowest incomes.

And renting a central London studio so you can make toast portraits is an incredibly privileged situation to be in – something a lot of kids probably won’t realise.

Ok fine, maybe ‘well aware’ was too generous. He just didn’t seem as much of the ‘rich kid playing struggling artist’ as I had previously presumed.

He could have made toast portraits in his Nan’s kitchen to be fair.

Ever since I worked for 4 weeks for a multi million rich kid in holland making his “art work” ( shite collages followed by ripping off elite artists) it left a bitter taste in my mouth with rich kids thinking they can try be an artist out of the blue and use their contacts and weatlh to step over the genuine life long artists who struggle daily .
The artists who’ve dedicated their time to shit jobs to fund thier incredibly talented exhibitions and if they’re lucky enough can make extra income tutoring at the local art college - like my tutors when I took fine art and photography.

So when blodney decides to be an "Artist " (and that’s gcse grade) and his dad’s fortune brings Damien Hurst into his path, he is then catapulted into being recognised as an artist and it makes my blood boil for all the real artists especially as he’s also a hype beast whatever and kids think that’s a standard. And with the hype blodney probably thinks he’s great.
Not at all . GCSE mate . Move on to your next project.

Okay let’s give this a second try…

So he’s looking lovely at topless photos of himself, completely lost in his own eyes, wanting to trace the outline of his naked torso with his finger. To the point he forgets a camera crew is filming him and no-one asked to see the book.

Nope, I tried.

He’s looking at the book saying, “What is this? It’s not even a story”. He just seems bewildered by it.

The Gonz backs him, what does he care what anyone else thinks. I wouldn’t.
