Cars

It was his dad’s pop. I don’t know why he chose the 12. Not its been in mini magazine years ago when he was 16. He’s had a rebuild since then. Last time it was rebuilt he sprayed in a R1 red colour. Bit like a candy apple red. It’s had the r1 in it for a few years now but he’s been chasing a miss fire.

An old flatmate took me out in his stage 2 mini and can honestly say I’ve never been so scared in my life. Stuck to the road like shit on a blanket.

I’d just buff it out myself and see how it looks first.

Yeah, it depends on the scratch but often they look a lot worse than they are, and some of what looks like scracthes can be just pick up from the thing that hit you. Just wash it then regular car polish and elbow grease would be the first thing to try. You might find you can live with it after that, just depends how particular you are.

Did it go through the paint? Take a pic?

If it’s gone through paint no amount of buffing will fix it. Bit of T-Cut will get any paint smears off from the bike and get smaller scratches out. Once you’ve done that you could get some stuff from Halfords, can’t remember what it’s called, it’s like a waxy coloured lipstick in colour of your car that comes with bottle of coloured polish. You rub the wax into the scratch then buff out as much as you can with the polish - in the end the wax just fills the actual scratch. That’s probably the cheapest way to take the eye away from it. Won’t look perfect, only way to get it back to perfect is to respray the panel.

Is that with Vw group? I might be able to sort you out if so, you’d have to go to MK though. Although as Spanky says might be a whole panel, which usually means two.

Sorry for flossing @buildafire but I got a new car and this is the car thread .

It’s the GLA 220d Amg line so has nice seats and is a bit more punchy. Just drove it back from Swindon, nice to have an automatic after having a stick for ages.

I got a £36k merc for £50 5 years ago. Auto too. So far I’ve spent £600 keeping it on the road . So before tax and insurance it’s costs me £130 a year.

How much cash have you thrown in the bin getting that?

Cashed in my Audi as a deposit and leasing it. So far not a penny :grinning:

That’s alright some times you can come out quite well of these lease deals etc. I think the way it’s going is people want a affordable payment they can pay each month with the benefit of getting a new car every couple of years, much like phone contracts.

Yeah, never done it before like that but it’s very very reasonable.

Car industry shitting it at the moment. If you want a cheap car now is probably best time to buy (from a new\nearly new dealer)

Yep, had 3 calls i the last 2 weeks on upgrading, they have been knock 4-5k off the prices of delivery mileage cars already

Will be a firesale. I’m guessing close to if not under trade prices.

Definitely not flossy. Carry on.

Remember with PCP deals though, not only are they cheap at the moment but the depreciation will also be monstrous, especially if you’re ordering from new.

anyone got any advice on scrapping a car? most I can find for mine online is £125. Not interested in trading in for another and it wont pass another MOT without £300ish of work. 2005 Honda Jazz

Scrap value is peanuts for most cars mainly due to all the regs the scrap dealers have to do regarding fluids, tyres etc.
I remember 15 years ago you used to have to pay to scrap a car.

I’d say £125 is pretty good. I scrapped one last year and got £80.
