My first was a VW Jetta MK2 that cost me £150.
Served its purpose.
It doesn’t make sense to get anything new or flashy as a first car as you really start to learn to drive once you are out and about on your own.
New golf looks so shit
Was really enjoying the last few generations after the MK4 where they started looking more and more aggressive
Was reading that R is going electric in future.
Its the front headlights that are stinking in my opinion.
I think they nailed it with the mk6, perfect mixture of curvy lines and sharp edges.
That’s what I’ve seen over the last 10/15 years are all new cars literally morphing into a generic shape and look. So uninspiring
That golf doesn’t stir any emotions, just meh.
Yeah years ago the whole range of a brand looked different and weird. Remember ford with Sierra and escort and fiesta, all looked different. Now all the cars look like slightly bigger or smaller versions of each other
looks a bit Marvin the Paranoid Android
Saw a pristine Capri today.
Nice to see.
Dark green.
Friend used to have a mk3 Capri. He out a rover v8 in it. He sold it to buy a house sadly
The Rover V8 engine was a cast off from Buick in America.
Matey I know has a Capri he bought when they were still going dirt cheap.
It’s had several different engines in it, but now he’s going for a turbo 2 litre Zetec build.
Looking forward to having another drive of it once it has that in it haha.
One of my work colleagues has 2 Mk1 Capris and they’re both factory original (except from a few obvious bits; brake pads, spark plugs etc) minters. Great looking cars but they haven’t appreciated in value like Escorts or early Cortinas have yet so they’re still quite reasonably priced.
Nice MK1 Golf cabriolet sighted just now at the shops across from my house.
Another nice thing to see.
Driving around here during lockdown you often see some fancy, classic or fancy classic cars about.
Saw a scirocco yesterday when I was out walking with the kids. Got that nice rich petrol smell as it drove past
Pissing fuel out the exhaust. Love it.
Ford pop? Friend is putting a jag v12 in one with a holley carb fueling it. And his brother has a roof chopped panel beaten flames up the front R1 powered mini
Yeah it’s a 54 pop, running 5.7 with half the mopar catalogue, just a long time non-vw project I guess to stay out of trouble.
I’ve seen that chopped mini before a few times, ex street machine?
Will admit I’m not sure about that 12, don’t know much about them or why you’d bother over an 8.
