Cars

Yea beyond taking it apart and selling it bit by bit on ebay which I don’t much fancy doing I think that might be as good as I can get

What does it need to pass the MOT?

that I know of, currently 2 new tyres, probably 3 by the time it comes around and the exhast needs replacing as its currently held together by a bean can and some wires

I’m absolutley one for getting the potential out of things and reparing over replacing but I’m not using the car at the minute at all and can use my girlfriends when I need to, plus its costing me £80 a month to insure and tax so I think it’s time to say goodbye

. I thought you were gonna say more structural/corrosion.

Where are you based?

near Oxford, at some point down the line the rusty underneath may well tip it over the line but I think at the moment it would still pass with its condition

Ah ok, it’s a euro 4 and in London in that would sell every day cos of the new emissions zoning coming into effect. £600 (take 500) Especially for a young driver or someone just passed their test. It’s a Honda so the engine is good .

Should maybe mention, it looks like shit and has 130000 miles.

Fair enough, wouldn’t worry about the mileage , my Honda Crx has 224,000 miles and before I put it into storage waiting to be restored. I was still taking it to the 8.5k Rev limit through the gears. Fucking great engines

I’d be tempted to stick it on ebay or Gumtree at 300 quid, list the faults in detail and see what happen. Tyres are consumables, exhausts nearly are, if the rest is half decent it could do another 100k.

My mondeo is on 215k. 16 year old rust is starting to get the better of it. It was a £300 mot bill all in,but £300 is cheaper then a new or 2nd hand new to me car with a year’s ticket. Scrap value is what it is. I’d scrap it as a last resort and easy option to clean your hands of it.

I get you but I’m not getting a car again anytime soon. If anyone wants to give me the £125 for it by all means come and get it.

Yeh we had a BMW mini and it was a lemon from the moment I bought. That pissed off with it I gave it to my brother in law for free. Helped him fix it. He then scrapped it and got £200 and I didn’t see a penny

Do you any of you have any Volvo experience? In my head I have always thought of them as rock solid and reliable, but I have no idea where I got that idea from.

Still on the search for a nice second hand estate, would love to hear any experiences or horror stories you’ve had.

My dad has had a fair few and I think the reputation is earned, the thing is I’ve had a look for the estates on Auto Trader as well and I think they must be fairly sought after as finding a good one isn’t too easy.

Might be different now though, I might have a little look!

Father in law bought one £2.5k I think. Drove from Norwich to Carlisle on his way back got to Penrith and it went bang. Couldn’t do anything about it. But then I have some friends or have a amazon estate that’s in the high milage club that they bought from Norway I think.

Used to have use of a couple in their homeland of Sweden.
A V70 estate and…actually I can’t remember the other model.
Really comfy, drive well, loads of space, decent.

Used to really want one of the old T5’s

Thanks for the replies, I’ve been keeping my eye on used ones autotrader since.
