Anyone I can send the noise to? Help me diagnose before I start spending cash.
Try and work out its front or rear left or right. Drive with the window open to see where it’s coming from. If it’s a wheel bearing like you suspect jack up the affected wheel and rock the wheel top and bottom at 12 and 6 o’clock positions checking for play. Then do the same at the 6 and 3 o’clock positions. Then spin the wheel checking for grinding noises.
You could jack up the car checking for any split boots on suspension components because if they’re split that would let dirt etc in and cause extra wear.
I literally can’t work it out. Sounds like engine maybe? But no lights or anything…
How loud is it? I mean can you fix it by just turning the stereo up?
Random question. When you get to the end of a finance deal, e.g. PCP or whatever. If you don’t want to pay the balloon payment to keep the car, and instead trade in for a different one, do you have to pay another deposit or does the existing one effectively carry towards the next car?
I’m debating trading in the A class for an SUV at some point but I’m not very far into the agreement. If I can trade it in for a bigger car at the end of the lease period I’ll probably just hold on until then.
I guess at some point you just have to eat the depreciation cost, and if I upgrade I’ll have to put some more cash down. Trying to figure out a way to upgrade sooner without mugging myself.
Run engine open the bonnet poke your head about, rev it and see if you can identify where it’s coming from
Mine carries straight over to the next car. I upgrade slightly every time but not sure on the maths, feels like they just want the sale more than being based on actual amounts…
Depends on the current trade price of your car now. If the trade price is higher than balloon on your current car, the difference between the two values is your next deposit.
If the current trade price is less than the balloon you can walk away with nothing.
Your original deposit is part of your 24/36/48 rental agreement, so that’s gone I’m afraid!
Sounds like wheel alignment to me. You got aftermarket alloys? Whacked any curbs recently? Checked your tyres for uneven wear?
No weird feel through the steering going along with it? Maybe feel the tyres for a bulge.
It idles fine. Can’t hear anything.
Is it uneven tyres?
You’d be able to feel in even tyres by running your hand of the tread. Does it change with revs or speed? Revs I’d be looking at the engine, speed I’d be looking at wheels/suspension.
Speed not revs
Is it something vibrating like a splash guard when you get to a certain speed ?
Driveshaft possibly, it’s hard to diagnose. Jack it up get underneath and look for anything obvious and then you can decide if it’s time to get someone to look at it or not.
If you want a replacement body part (plastic panel on inside of tailgate, under the rear window) on a 2010 i.e. an old car is it pretty much breakers yards I’m looking at?
Nah you can buy most parts online or from motor factors.
Stupid plastic bit underneath the engine. Splash shield is it?
I think that’s what it’s called, something that went on one of my older cars. I’m just guessing though.
Nah it is that, it’s flapping
