I met a client at Silverstone and got to go in a McLaren GT4 track car. Was well fun have never done that before.
Yeah it’s nuts when you go in something fast on a track. Definitely a levelling up experience where you realise how quickly things can go south! If you drive like me anyway…I was off loads.
That is one bright interior, love the exterior though.
Is that an Hermes interior?
What a fucking terrible car.
Come on now, you know you want one of these:
They still do some cool stuff in my opinion, the C43 and C63 look particularly nice.
Christ, I would not want to have a crash in one of those.
Had the mini on the rolling road today. The timing was out, so the ignition map had to be rewritten to correct this. We had connection issues with the laptop and in the ecu the back light on mine had gone, eventually got it connected to his. Ran it up and the clutch was slipping I thought that was game over. Ran it up again and it was fine so maybe just needed bedding in a little. In the end it made 150hp at the flywheel which is 130hp at the wheels. Fuelling is good with room for more boost. It happily went to 6k rpm before powered started to tail off.
Anyone on here ever had a Lexus SUV?
Keep looking at used ones on autotrader, you can get some nice looking RXs from 2010+ with 80k on the clock for pretty decent money. Still fairly pricey but I reckon they’ll be good for at least another 150-200k if I get it serviced regularly (it’s basically a land cruiser or highlander). And surprisingly good fuel economy for such a big car.
I’m kind of over replacing cars every 3 years on PCP deals, it does not make sense financially to me. But I also really like nice cars. These seem like a nice compromise.
Downsides?
I had an early RX, lovely car. Auto gearbox started playing up and just needed topping up with oil, which we only discovered after getting a new box shipped from Japan. Other than that, Toyota reliability, loved it
Trying to run my old Golf in to the ground, just won’t happen, seems to go forever no matter how badly I take care of it. Bombproof
I’m hoping the same with this, Iv banged on about MK5 GTIs on here for about 6 months and Iv found one Iv proper fallen in love with. I know I should have bought this when I was 20 but it’s 5 door I have one kid, and didn’t pass until I was 30. Should be fine
@Tony_Waffles i have enough friends who know about cars especially VWs need to turn into a nerd and learn how to fix some things haha.
It’s had an ECU Remap as well. Went and test drive one today that was allegedly running at 280bhp. Fuck me was amazing. Needed too much doing for what they were asking.
Wicked, thanks. Sounds like I’m not crazy.
How are they to drive? It looks like a comfy cruise liner. Never driven anything that big.
Mine had really soft suspension, not the kind of thing you’d want to corner sharply with. Big comfy seats, stank of leather, great tourer. It was years ago, mind, but don’t really have a bad word to say about it
MIL had one more recently, she loved it
