Cars

Don’t make the mistake I did. My drivers window had a sticky regulator. Some times it was fine other times would go really slow until one day if just went bang! Window fell from 90% up to all the way down luckily the glass didn’t smash! For a 2md hand one off ebay and had to take the door card off

If you don’t have the tools, the time, or the skills to do it yourself these things are a fucking nightmare. Sold my old Audi estate because all the windows started going wrong.

It’s like £200 per window in a garage or hours of your own time. In my case days of my own time because I would always find myself in need of a new tool or part half way into it.

Didn’t have another car to drive to pick up parts so I had to leave everything disassembled on the drive while I ordered random ‘hope this is the right one’ parts from online Motor factors.

Worth a try though. Once you’ve done it a few times I think you fall onto the ‘now I never need a garage again’ camp or the ‘fuck that I’m never going through it again’ camp.

I’ve not used anything except a phone for years now, will that not work okay in the rest of Europe?

Realised I need a 7 seater and wondered if anyone had had one they can recommend?
Budget less than £8k if possible.
Just need as much space as possible and reliability, not really bothered about cool points or brand which, I suppose, is a given anyway when buying a huge dad wagon.

I would buy an old android phone, stick waze or google maps on it and save the maps. GPS relies on free satellite GPS signals, not data, so it will still work (used to do this years ago). So you don’t even need a sim for the phone as it won’t use data or cellular. Then when you get back sell the phone. Done.

We have a caravelle or has 7 seats. You can get a shuttle (transporter) which has 9 seats. We got ours for a bargain compared to others we were looking at. It does have high milage but it came with receipts for an engine rebuild and other work during its life.

It flew threw its last MOT. Other then service items (oil, filter etc) it’s had a strut top bearing, wheel bearing and disks and pads. We’ve had it just over a year and done ~10k miles in that time. We love it.

Quite like the Korean pop band tour vibes on that

Probably out of our budget sadly, but nice all the same

We got ours for less then your budget, but I think we got a bargain because we were looking at ones more then double what we paid. It depends if you need 7 seats with good boot space or a car that has 5 seats and then 2 fold out in the boot. Before you commit to anything I’d look at videos or go and view cars in person. My father in law has a vw that has “7 seats” but 2 are in the boot and trying to get people and car seats in didn’t work without everyone being super cramped.

Prices are a bit through the roof at the moment, they are for all used cars, but VW vans especially.

Settled on a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer. Or, as they’re known in the trade, a Total Milf Wagon.
