for anyone who has Sky Arts channel on freeview, there is some great art documetaries at the moment that seem to be repeated a couple of times a week late at night - ‘Martha - A Picture Story’ is all about Martha Copper an amazing photographer who did the first Subway Art graffiti book with Henry Chalford in 84.

she has a really interesting story, and just hearing how hard it was to even get any of those amazing 70’s 80s NYC photos published anywhere at all at the time is fascinating. i didnt realise but she did loads more stuff other than the train/graff pics.

highly recommended. i think was due to get cinema release in autumn but covid fucked that up.

there is another one about Goldie ‘the art that made me’ and his history with Tats Cru in NYC, pioneering graff in UK with 3D, mode 2 etc, - that was also really interesting and covered a lot of ground, including metalheadz and the kid of rebirth of graff as ‘street art’ and going into galleries etc.

also well worth a watch

you dont need sky (i dont have it either) - its just a new free channel that came onto freeview a couple of months ago - i think it might only show up on a smart TV though

If others do have Sky but are unable to find it on demand on Sky Arts, it’s scheduled to be shown at 1.15am on Tuesday, and there’s a watch now option in order to download it. Seen the trailer and looks great.

I’m sure sky arts is on freeview now.

i am in UK - on my TV its channel 11 on feeview. you might need to retune your tv so it picks up new channels?

Max is not in the UK.

Watched Being Frank, the Chris Sievey story last night. I didn’t know much about his personal life, so it was good to get more background on him. But what an absolutely crackers, flawed, driven, outsider artist genius he was.

Ever see the 2014 film Frank that’s inspired by him? I thought it was a biopic, but nope. Just uses his likeness. OK as an ensemble piece, but pretty much false advertising.
