I have a set of 30 year old Powell Swiss bearings that have been unused and lying in my garage for at least 20 yrs.
I’m going to try and clean them up and see if they’ll roll again.
Coke soak?
@Mush must just be the angle of the picture, definitely not bent though it is down to the axle on one side with a crack running through it.
@tbk11 honestly i skated a set of fast wheels from october to around march and i thought they were pretty dink. bought them because they were rated at 83b which is the same as stf’s so i thought they’d have a decent amount of slide to them and they had absolutely zilch.
@Jurwell from what i remember reading Film trucks were the trucks that used to come on cliche completes albeit unbranded, and once they folded the guy running it went full time with it. skated a set temporarily for a week or so and had no issues, kinda hard to compare them to other trucks since i’ve been on thunders for years but i’d have no issues skating the Film’s full time.
Get as much grit and grease off with tissue/cloth before you start the old bottle/oil shake routine
My mate distributes Film here and so far we got positive feedback and zero complaints. Support Daclin (and Europe)!
tbh i can’t really tell the difference between wheels at the end of the day, i’ve spent £40 on spitfires and a tenner on descent in the past haha. as long as they’re 55/56 to begin with i’m happy
Maybe you can’t tell the difference because you get 55/56s?
OMG this has turned into a big job. 3 out of 8 bearings have come apart during cleaning. Took me hours to reassemble one of them. I must have watched every tutorial on YouTube. 2 more to go when I find the time ![]()
.
On a positive note I think I can restore these bearings![]()
haha, yeah who knows
hate anything under 54 though feels weird
56 would feel like i was riding a monster truck or something. that’s crazy!
eh i can definitely feel a difference between a higher quality/price point wheel such as formula fours, stfs etc vs a lower end wheel. these heroin one’s are pretty fucking solid, be nice if they were a bit wider but i have no complaints.
56 stfs is the biggest ive pushed it and i had hectic wheelbite so i had to wear them down, now i stay at a solid 54. that being said my friend got some 57s the other day and it looks and feels like a monster truck, they make his indy 149s look tiny.
I skate 60mm Ricta Clouds, but the sum of my skating at the moment is cruising to work and back so they make sense. Changing job soon so I might go back to something smaller and harder.
Do you do any flip tricks at all?
My son has a set of these in 54mm on his board, they feel so nice.
Can anyone recommend a brand or model with a symmetrical popsical shape? I’m still learning after a long time off and find myself using the nose as the tail just cos it’s longer and wider while the tail is a bit shorter and narrower, so I’ve got more control (or it feels that way at least). Thanks
real twin tail? maybe something from welcome also
Sam Sitayeb from Yardsale/Supreme likes a longer tail, he just rides his board back to front the whole time
Kris Vile has a guest board on A Third Foot that was symmetrical. Both sides like the nose. Don’t think they do them anymore though i’m afraid, but it could be worth giving Ideal Skate Store Birmingham a bell and seeing if they have any floating about in the back.
I’m pretty sure dwindle do symmetrical boards. My mate had a succession of blind boards that were about 3 years ago
Another one where the pressing shape is for 8.3 or something ridiculous. They wouldn’t press it in 7.75 as symmetrical. Really liked the graphic tho so skated that for ages
