360 flips feel sooo much better on a wider board.

I skated 7.875s for a really long time, until 5 or 6 years ago, then one day I stepped up to a 8.125 with wider trucks (switched from 139s to 144s) which I preferred straight away. Been skating wider shaped boards for 7 or 8 years now too, anything between 8.4 and 8.75, usually on 149s. Shaped boards are what’s up, they really feel like toys and bring the fun back as when you’re skating them you feel like you’re less… supposed to perform or have all your tricks as solid as you do on a popsicle. Plus skating them pushes you to experiment different tricks or different techniques for some tricks like 360 flips and the process is pretty interesting.

Would just like to say that I am really really enjoying the 56mm soft sliders

Got risers for the first time in years as well, feel like I’m riding on hydraulics it’s so high off the ground

Has anyone ever spotted Ricta Wheels in the wild?

Like, any Ricta wheels? Loads. I’ve owned some. My mates have owned some. One of them is riding some Ricta cores now

I had quite a few sets of Ricta slims in the early 00’s and remember the cores from around then but thought they vanished.

Came across them on the net this morning and they have tones of different wheels, was surprised as I can’t remember the last time I ever saw anyone skating them.

They any good these days? Loved my slims!

Both my friends who have got back into skating ride them, because that’s what they both rode back in 2004.

I’ve been tempted to buy a set of clouds, but I had 1 pair of Rictas back in the day and the cores fell out after like a month. Presumably there’re better made these days?

Got Clouds on my cruiser, lovely stuff.

Same, very good

Had these in my cupboard - old Ricta Burnquist wheels. Haven’t used them for maybe ten years

And some Clouds too

And more. I’m having a clear-out.

Had some BA’s about 25 years ago. Embossed like above which I hated. I think I binned them when we moved to our second home.

I’ve been watching this programme Sort Your Life Out, where they empty someone’s house into a huge warehouse and the people have to get rid of half of everything they own, only bringing back the things they actually like and use.
In every case their home is 100% better and they are happier. I’m starting to do that.
I’ve got too much old skate gear lying around that I haven’t used for years. That’s all going - some I’m selling on eBay and some I’m binning, and I’m only keeping the setup I ride.

With the orange trucks?

Nah. Silver trucks. But from the people who also make them in orange. But I’m also holding back a set of Slappy trucks for if/when I get bored with the Grind Kings.

Get the best of both worlds, just ride one Silver, one Grind King

Your board will be like a swiss army knife

And 4 different sizes and hardnesses of wheels, one on each corner so I can ride everything

Been trying to do that too. There’s too much shit in my house.

Pretty sure it’s in decent condition if you kept it, give it to some kids or whoever needs it at the skatepark.

Good idea - I’ll do that

Needed a change in my setup yesterday, so put my old 9.1 egg deck back together with my new 8.5 Slappy inverted lights. It’s 8.75 over the trucks, so not too much mismatch in width, but feels good.
