Are Wayward wheels any good? Slam have some at £15 at the moment
Not really but they’re probably worth £15.
The only wheels that are good are Formula 4s and Powell. Everything else will flat spot.
I can’t think of any reason to buy Powell over Formula 4 because the Spitfires are slightly better.
So the only wheels worth buying are Formula 4s.
I have to agree really. Tried some OJs a while ago and they just didn’t feel safe, like I didn’t know how they’d respond in any given turn / slide. Ran back to f4s begging forgiveness
Yeah those OJ Elites are treacherous. I do know a few super good skaters who like them because they’re really fast and they slide like mad, but most people aren’t gonna get on with them.
They actually sound really good for Stoke Plaza. That place is far too grippy for 99 F4’s as there is just no give in the concrete. Then again I’ll (try and) jump onto a waxed ledge and probably slip out
Yeah if you’re only skating a weathered outdoor wooden mini or grippy old concrete (as long as it’s pretty smooth) they’d be ok. But you’d still be better off buying harder F4s.
Yeah, wouldn’t dispute that, probably worth grabbing someone who is on F4 101s and trying first. At least I know the F4 are highly unlikely to flat spot.
Is a twin nose egg a thing? I’ve got a brand new set up 8” popsicle looking forlorn in the garage for the last year, awaiting the flip trick come back that’s never happening. Might try the egg scene
Lots of symmetrical eggs.
Think the main egg shape Heroin makes is a symmetrical 9.5.
I got the same as Ned in the end. Love it
I’ve missed out on the whole egg thing so far. Then again I was late to switch from the old shaped boards to popsicles. What’s the benefit of the egg shape/big size?
Not used mine yet but standing on it it feels like, given that I’m 3 stone heavier and have hardly any balance any more compared to teenage years, the wider middle gives more stability but the narrower nose and tail mean the board is still nimble enough to try tricks.
Eggs > pointy tail + pointy nose > might make tricks you scoop like 360 flips or backside 360s easier
Wide popsicles > round tail + round nose > better for noseslides, crooked grinds, tailslides and manuals
Now which shape would be better if you want to try a pop shove-it (a trick you scoop) to nosewheelie (a trick for which you need a good nose or tail to get maximal balance)?
I’d say the popsicle is quite the ATV, but it’s really personal.
Eggs are fun but not the most functional shape in my opinion. If I only had one setup, it probably wouldn’t be an egg. This said, I’m always happy to skate one.
Anyone replaced out the bushings in their Slappy trucks?
Got the stock in there but way too soft for my supple frame and seem to squish and cut easy, got some purple khiros that fit, pretty rock solid, thought I’d look for something in-between, tried Bones hard but they don’t fit the kingpins too well without a hammer
Looks sick. What are the specs and how does she ride?
I won’t ask your weight but I’m 12 1/2 stone and I have a set of Slappys I ride at factory settings. Slappys are like Ace and Lurpiv in that they come with soft bushings designed to be ridden loose. If you tighten them down they’ll squish.
Just bubble wrap your normal board.
It’s a Heroin (obvs) Bail Gun Gary - 9.75.
Trucks = Indy 169’s.
Wheels = 52mm Spitfire Soft Slidings.
It’s a barge and I’m quite happy with it (probably because I don’t ollie much these days).
