Equipment Thread

I have the Slappy inverted lights. Ended up putting in some bones hard bushings, as I’m not the lightest person and found them way too unstable to get the right mix of looser front truck, slightly less loose back truck.

I’m not scared of loose trucks (as you would see in the Polarizer thread), but there was something about the stock bushings that really made me think the hype for Slappy trucks being fine straight out of the box was off. I know they sell many hardnesses of their own bushings, but jumping straight to Bones seemed like the easiest choice. Now I have them dialled in and they feel perfect.

Maybe a touch of grease, or similar lubricant would get them onto the kingpins more easily.

I don’t know why I didn’t think about a little grease, good shout.

I know what you mean about the bushings though, they just seem very soft and loose trucks don’t do it for me at all. I’ll try the Bones bushings again or the Khiros and stop micro managing so much

Just bubble wrap your normal board.

This is like when your Mum says we’ve got one at home already

Am i right in thinking tbere are fake bones reds about?

Wouldn’t buy off ebay randoms anyway

Yes there are fakes going around

I’ve even seen some questionable Indy’s and spitfires on AliExpress

Wouldn’t even buy actual reds they’ve always popped so easily (for me at least)

What do you go for?

Those fakes been going round for easy over 10 years. One chain of m-kat shops allegedly sold them too.

If I didn’t have a fresh set already I would get these!

Had three sets in five years and all still perfect, just moved the other two to my spare set up and cruiser

Yeah Shiner have them on sale at the moment to clear out the last of their stock. If you’re in the market for new bearings speak to your local skate shop and see if they can do you a deal!

Got a new set of these ready to go, utter bargain at £40.

I grew up skating nmbs and nsks at a pound each. Can’t say I’ve ever really noticed the difference between any bearings really, are they really that much better?

NMBs are perfectly good for a few years. Stainless or ceramic bearings last basically forever.

Do you do the whole open them up and clean the balls thing? (Fnarr etc)

My oldest set of 6balls are now 15 years old and are still running great. Deffo going to jump on that deal.

Nah I just buy the cheaper ones and replace every so often. I usually go for the Bones Reds Big Balls.

After years on Reds, I’ve found Bronson G3 stay smoother for longer, for under £20

I only skated nmb’s and the cheapest wheels for years. The difference between that or Swiss and a set of formula fours is ridiculous tbh, always tried to tell myself it wasn’t but it is

Got given a set of Quantum Bearings (I forget which ones) and they ride like Swiss

And yes @jimvo I clearly remember the first time I got Swiss, it’s like I had to push about 40% less. Total gamechanger for me, wouldn’t ride anything else.

Apart from the Quantums as mentioned previously.
