That Sandoval shape always looked really good but its wheelbase is too long for me.
I love smaller (8.25-8.5) shaped boards.
Funnily enough I went for a quick skate on my cruiser in order to break in new bushings and new shoes a week ago and it’s all I’ve skated on since! No problem grinding, nose/tailsliding ledges on that thing with cruiser wheels, which surprised me.
I’m always curious with grip setups like these - do you catch the corners/edges of the sections of grip and peel them back? I know you’re not going to be flipping and stuff but I’m just thinking about snagging when popping and sliding your foot up.

To be honest with you I don’t really know, it’s the first time I go that wild on a grip job. So far so good, it all seems to stay where it has to be. Fingers crossed.
I haven’t tried any crooked grinds (and by that I mean crooks but also Suski or Smith, those grinds where there’s more friction on your wheels) on them yet but they are fine for straight grinds. Had no problem nosesliding and tailsliding a skatepark ledge but that could have to do with me sliding on the baseplate as I’m on Indys. I did wheelies and nosewheelies on a pad and they felt pretty normal for these too, I didn’t have to adapt to them.
Stoked on those 85As yeah, almost tempted to try those Spitfire Soft Sliders on a more classic setup.
Yeah, 54mm and you’re sliding/grinding your baseplate without wheel contact on Indys. Gonna be a different story with Thunders, for example. One detail to note @Lazy. If you’re on Indy, happy days.
Snapped my board last night, nothing special just a nollie on flat, landed a little tail heavy and it let go. Rode my old deck that the park had in the back until I left.
