That looks great, i’m up for that

Unfortunately this was the “recemmended next video” and I hate myself for watching it. Imagine living in a world where Glenn Close and Naomi Watts get outshone by acting powerhouse Kim Kardashian.

the first one was excellent
(RZA turning up blew my mind, ha)

The new Mission Impossible is exhausting, in a good way. It’s like all the previous 6 films packed together into one 3 hour epic. Cruise is a madman.

Non-spoiler review, but blurred anyway: The first half hour is a bit of a slog, it’s all exposition trying to connect all the previous films together and I was a bit worried they’d dropped the ball on this one. Luckily, once it gets going… it really gets going. Not as good as Dead Reckoning or Fallout (but then, what is) but a decent end to a consistently great franchise.

Might have to be a trip to the IMAX this weekend :+1:

Sick! I’m still scrolling. Insane stuff. Ukelele’s put me off a bit haha

Wow. Insane stuff, as said above someone should just buy the lot and make a museum. I want so many things but I’d start with the Blue Velvet-related album collection

I didn’t know this but just read that he apparently owned three adjacent properties off mullholland drive. There must be so much cool stuff. What I’d give to have a rummage. Respectfully to the family and man himself of course

I’m going to get this slightly wrong but he was a fan of an arty-looking architect’s house there so he bought it and lived in it, and that’s the house from Lost Highway. Then he had a house built next door in the same style, with separate buildings for working and stuff, and that’s where he lived for a long time until he died.
(Actual facts can probably be found on the googleweb if you want more than my half-facts)

Street view of the Lost Highway house:

Edit: curb-cut kicker gap to wall, can picture a Drake Jones noselide

Went to see the new Wes Anderson yesterday. What happened? I didn’t get on with the previous two films but hoped this might be a return to form.

I think music might have something to do with it. Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Life Aquatic all had great soundtracks but can’t remember a track from the last few.

Kind of wish I’d gone to Mission Impossible instead haha

someone asked if it was any good and i just replied ‘i don’t know’.

Asteroid city was a mess of every wes anderson ism you can think of thrown at it and I felt it was just too hamfisted that is was shit. But then Geoff Goldblum came along dressed a s a really shit alien and made the film. Afterwards I felt that I really enjoyed the film but in reality it was that tiny scene alone. Knowing that is was Geoff made it too.

I don’t want to hate too much because it’s just great that other films that aren’t superhero films are still made but with the resources and casts he can pull I wish they were so much more

Asteroid City was a huge disappointment and generally just really bad.

Personally I loved The French Dispatch, you could maybe argue at that point he was tipping slightly too far into relying just on his quirks, but for me he got the balance right and it’s one of my favourites of his.

This new one, I’m not holding out much hope for but I’ll still give it a go.

Word. It’s just such a shame that he’s a parody of himself. His directorial and visual style is getting tired now. IMO his last good film was Isle of Dogs, everything since has been dull and exhausting to sit through.

New Mission Impossible has a bit of a clunky start but holy shit the second half is action movie perfection

The Phoenician Scheme just felt soulless. He’s always been good at having some genuine, touching relationships in his films despite being very repetitive stylistically but this one just had nothing

ah fuck it. going to have to go watch it.

anyone seen the new final destination? it’s pure nostalgia bait but I’m kind of tempted. hopefully it’s a bit of fun
